#1 , though at times I might cross the boundary and get real "spirtual" with #2. In fact, I just checked the "stats" section and noticed that I made the list of "most active posters over the past 7 days" for the first time. By the way, I like the stats section - stats hold a certain fascination for me, whether they be posting stats or football stats.

I did the "slow fade" - gradually reducing the number of meetings I attended, and hours of service, until I stopped altogether. This enables me to still talk to family members who are JWs and other members of the cong.
If you speak up about your feelings re the Organisation, you will be classed as an apostate and ultimately either df'd or da'd. Don't bother printing off reams of information for the elders to read - they won't, and you'll be kicked out of the cong before you know it.
My suggestion is that you read, read and read some more. Look up the threads that deal with da'ing/df'ing vs fading away. If you have family that are jws, then you will want to consider how leaving the jws will affect your relationship with your family.

I certainly hope I was never a spirtual snob, but here's the problem - when one "does well spiritually" it so easily becomes almost the norm to begin to look down on others who are not doing the same. And I do not attribute this to just human nature (though that may factor in) - I feel that it is cultivated by the teachings and customs of Jehovah's Witnesses. It's so prevalent within the .org, I can find no other explanation for it.

the new star trek movie, "nemesis" is premiering on december 13, 2002. i am really looking forward to it.
although i grew up with the original, i must admit to a certain fondness for the next generation and to captain picard.

Hi Robyn nice thread....I always enjoy a good Trek discussion.
I am really looking forward to the new film. Overall, I'd give Next Generation the edge as my favorite series. I like Picard, like Kenpo said, for negotiation, and Kirk for action. But actually, I had always felt that Captain Sisko was under-rated and under-appreciated perhaps by Trek fans. The voice alone that Avery Brooks brought to the character was notable. And though DS9 kind of made me feel claustrophobic inside that station, the characters were a great mix and actually played the angle of tension between themselves very well and with a good degree of humor.
I do watch Enterprise, and I generally like it....I love the opening song and intro too. But, I think we must face a certain fact - hot babes have almost totally taken over Trek. In Enterprise, T'Pol (Jolene Blalock) is in almost every scene these days. And Jeri Ryan as Seven Of Nine virtually took over Voyager, which evidently needed an infusion of babe-ness to try drawing back a waning audience. Of course, the hottie mega-babe Ryan has now virtually taken over Boston Public as well.
Hottest scene on TV these days - watching T'Pol get rubbed down with decontamination gel in the de-con room.

isn't this just a pitiful way of saying, 'i can't deal with my anger'....'just be passive and be quiet and don't have any expectations'....'life is just too difficult; count me out'....'i can't have any impact anyway so why should i even try?

The dubs don't know how much thanks they owe to socalled worldly people, supposedly controled by satan, who have invented medical miracle procedures, overturned oppressive rulers, took chances to establish a relatively free market capitalism, etc. These efforts have brought mankind a previously unknown level of freedom, education and health. If all waited on jehovah, we'ld still be riding around in chariots, dying young from various maladies, and killing each other for the smallest infractions.

I do, but it's been sporadic lately.....maybe two in the past month.
while making a run to the local drug store last night, i noticed before getting out of my truck, an active jw (who rides his bicycle everywhere) coasting in front of me, parking his bike, and disapeared into the store.
i see him all the time and i know he sees me, but not sure if he's ignoring me, or just plain cant see.
maybe thats why he dont drive a car.
Good story Jim......I wonder if they let you alone because, number one, you no longer claim to be a jw, and number two, they kind of 'dropped the ball' as far as following up was concerned.
