GB disassociates itself!!
by lulu indear brothers:
as you have admitted, the watch tower bible & tract society did join the united nations as a non government organization in 1992 ending in 2001, and according to the following watch tower this means that by their own actions they disassociated them selves from jehovahs organization which means that we must treat them like disfellowshiped ones.
in other words they are no longer jehovahs witnesses or have any right to that name.

lulu, I am very sorry (though not surprised) to hear about you being disassociated.
The dark-ages mentaity never ceases to amaze me. The WTS can write articles on Church supression on people who dared challenge it or even dared to speak their mind and conscience, and yet they do the same thing, time and time again.

Mystery of life, or my ramblings
by Vivamus ini have been thinking back on the moment my grandma died.
it's a strange thing, seeing someone pass away.
it truly made me think on the meaning of life.

Well Viv, I hope I never have to "remember" you but I will say that in the short time I've known you, I've come to admire you greatly. You're a very keen thinker and I enjoy your posts very much.
Oh yeah.... and you're sexy too.

Headaches... any info?
by Vivamus inwell, i'm kinda panicking here.
the last few months i have had horrible, daily headaches.
i get up with them, and no amount of painkillers can chase it away, it only suppresses it.

Hi Viv,
I'm very sorry that you are experiencing those headaches. I often get the TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) type headaches that have been mentioned, and they can be pretty nasty. However, your symptoms don't sound the same as mine, though I guess there is still a chance that the cause is similar.
For me, all I have to do is bite down too hard on the right side of my mouth, and a headache is triggered. Or, if I turn my head sharply to the right, or put pressure on my neck, like tying a tie, I can trigger a headache. But they always occur only on the right side of my head.
Most of the time, a couple of Motrin tablets are enough to help, so like I said, I doubt you have the same problem.
I just hope you feel better fast Viv and that you can get the treatment you need. Hugs, jack

The Blood Issue
by LoneWolf inin valis's thread "discussion with my dad --- ended badly", he requested some help explaining the reason that the blood doctrine is faulty.
this is something i wrote out a few years ago and i wanted to post it here in case someone could find it useful.. feel free to use it any way you wish.. .
the blood issue.

Joy2 asks an excellent question:
Why is the symbol of life more important than life?
I'll have to keep that one in mind should the issue ever come up. Thanks Joy. Good post LoneWolf.

Thanksgiving Football???
by WildTurkey inim a big cowboy fan, and i love to watch them play on thanksgiving.
but if i was not a cowboy fan, i must admit i would rather watch a more completive game, a game that would have play off implications.. how do you feel about it?
stay with tradition or a better game.

I read something interesting at Gregg Easterbrook's column at espn.com's page 2. The NFL may be considering scheduling other teams to play on turkey day. The thinking is that each year, the Cowboys and Lions gain a slight advantage (according to Easterbrook, it's almost like giving them a half-game edge in the standings) by not having to travel during the short week, while other teams must travel to play them each season. Statistically, this actually works out to an advantage to these two teams as their won-lost percentages on thanksgiving are calculated.
Of course, the Lions lost today, so maybe his theory is a lot of whooie anyway.
While I like tradition, I think it may be time to start rotating teams. And I also wish the Lions would not wear those ugly throwback uniforms on turkey day.

New to board-1st post
by kril inmy last attempts at posting were to no avail so i'm just going to test this out first and they edit and post something else.-it worked.. i have been reading a lot of the material on this website and find most of it interesting.
i'm still a witness but have some questions about bible/doctrine that haven't been answered to my satisfaction.
it seems that when i discuss things with people (i.e witness elders) they more or less don't listen to my arguements.

Hi kril and bootsie ,
As a still (somewhat) active jw, let me welcome you both.
The 'fade' may be the best way to go, kril. I've faded quite a bit, but still hang in for family reasons.
The best thing you can do is look over some of the threads here and make your own decisions. I think you'll find this place interesting and, sometimes, amusing.

Whining....
by Vivamus inwho do you whine to?
i use my mum to tell all my problems to.
i'll phone her, write her, haunt her down if i want to get anything of my chest.

Viv , I guess it is a guy thing......generally, it seems more "manly" to be stoic and all that.
But sometimes, I think we need to unload too. Sometimes, we get it out by a good workout or something like that. Personally, I do something I enjoy - listen to music, watch tv, workout, stuff like that. That seems to help.
I am glad you and your mum had a good chat!
