Please Accept My Most Heartfelt..........
by Englishman inrecently, i have had a few occasions when it's been neccessary - no, essential - that i say sorry to someone for something that i have said or done, in order that someone's hurt feelings are healed.. it doesn't make me feel demeaned at all when i say sorry, i don't feel any less of a person because i have apologised, although i am aware that some people find it almost impossible to apologise.. what do you think?
is it a sign of weakness to apologise?
is apologising a desirable thing?
-

Good replies! I think apologizing is indeed something that shows strength, not weakness. It should be done without subtly or overtly trying to pass blame or imply that the receiver is somehow being overly sensitive....for example - "I'm sorry that you felt offended at what I said" is no real apology. I feel it should be made unconditionally and with sincerity. It then will hopefully be accepted, and then both parties can move on.

Sex Scandal in Montana
by silentlambs init has been brought to my attention that there may be a major scandal working in the billings montana area.
it involves more than ten elders in a motel room at the district convention this summer and 14-16 year old girls.
my information source says there is more to come with possible charges being filed, but key jw's work for social services there and are involved in the investigation.

Well, I didn't want to get involved in this discussion, and I still don't, but this statement by Elsewhere
A woman's rape lasts a few minutes... mine has lasted 30 years
did get my attention.
Else, you've obviously been very hurt, but I must say that I would like to believe that such a statement is something that you (hopefully) regret making. I don't have to even say why - I think it's very obvious.

Why are you looking forward to 2005?
by Nowhere inanyone heard anyting of 2005?
i've spoken to some witnesses here, who are really worried about 2005. they say it was pretty obvious at the last convention, that the world may end in 2005. because of 1975 and the fact that jesus was 30 years old, the last time he preached on earth... .
what have i missed?
-
jack2
One jw I know has this calculation:
1975 - 6000 yrs since man created
add 30 yrs for Adam to be left alone (and thus become an "adult" in the Hebrew sense of the word) in Garden of Eden before Eve is created and God's creative works end
thus bringing you to 2005
Frankly, I would think that if Jesus said 'at a time that you do not think to be it, the Son of Man is coming' and 'no one knows the day or the hour' then that means that no one can calculate that day and hour.

Totally happy in your marriage?
by Lost Diamond inhow many of you are totally, incredibly happy in your marriage?
how many of you feel that your spouse is your absolute soul mate and you couldn't even imagine your being married somebody else?
talking with the women at work, i'm surprised at how many are not totally happy.
-
jack2
The state of my marriage breaks down into neat little time periods:
First 6 years - happy
Following 14 years - unhappy
Past 2 years - basically happy
So overall, while I am not "blissfully happy" I am basically happy, or at least "comfortable", and really have no reason to complain a lot or try to find someone else.
