You hit the nail on the head Blondie. I wish I could have read that scripture to my Dad but he would have beat me with a belt if I did. I knew that scripture then but didn't want to have a repeat of his Anger.

One year before the incident of my cousins visiting my Dad had a fit when my Mom and I were upset because he left our tiny dog outside in 40 below weather as the JW friends we were visiting didn't allow pets in the house.

He beat me with a belt and threw pots and pans at my Mom when we got home. I told him he should look up a the scripture on "temper" and then he really beat me black and blue. He was a Elder at the time. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr We are talking the 60's when they didn't have laws against things like this.

this morning, i came to discover in great shock that my wife's ssd has been stopped.. yesterday, i noticed her ssd wasn't automatically deposited as it usually does every 3rd of the month.. .

this morning i checked again and it still wasn't there.

so i got on vp and called to inquire what's going on with her ssd.

My Wife's SSD Got Cut Off

this morning, i came to discover in great shock that my wife's ssd has been stopped.. yesterday, i noticed her ssd wasn't automatically deposited as it usually does every 3rd of the month.. .

this morning i checked again and it still wasn't there.

so i got on vp and called to inquire what's going on with her ssd.

I was feeling bad for this Yizzy with all his problems but went back to the beginning 7 YEARS ago and see it the same old story.

I have problems too financially since I got sick. I know a lot of people here have severe illnesses or something. My God I know one girl on this forum who is working still and has to have a Kidney transplant. Being Deaf is not fun but its not life threatening and it doesn't stop someone from doing work. If you can walk and see you are doing good. We live in North America, this country won't let us starve or go without basic needs. USA or Canada have lots of Help out there even if it won't make us rich.

We should not use this forum for financial help!!!! We are here for emotional support and help in recovering from being in a Cult namely the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

Yizuman how are you connected with the Jehovah's Witnesses? I never hear anything about you being here for support with that????

i'm not but i know some jws that have drifted but when things like 9/11 catastrophes occur, they're right back at the kingdom hall.. do you ever worry that the great tribulation might occur and you will die?.

YES I WAS!!! I lived in horror of it until about 3 years ago when I discovered websites like this. I left the "truth" when I was 18 got disfellowshipped and had nightmares for years. Was destructive in my activities as I had a "live for today because tomorrow I will die" attitude.

I went back into the religion when I was 28 for 7 more horrible years because I thought Armageddon was coming and I wanted to save my babies and myself. I left again because I couldn't stand it but was afraid to listen to new or let my Mom (a fanatic witness) talk to me of the "signs".

I was terribly insincere growing up as a witness obviously because I hated the whole prayer thing. I didn't see the point of it all?? No one answered.

I was also Extremely Embarrassed whenever we had to do the prayer thing at restaurants and with non believers present. My parents did that all the time in front of my Grandparents or unbelieving visitors. UGH

Once when I was 16 my cousin who was 19 dropped in to visit us on his way to CFB Trenton (Canadian Forces Base). He had a buddy with him. I was so shy and quite excited with having 2 handsome boys staying overnight in our tiny tiny apt (1 bedroom). My cousin (my dad's sisters son) was NOT into JW stuff but he liked to keep in touch with family. Anyway first thing when they walked in the door we had supper, My Dad did the prayer, it was 10 minutes long I swear with lots of Jehovah this and that. OMG I was mortified and I was watching their reactions and they were embarrassed too. Geez.

Financial Help.

hit my posting limit and am using my second account..... i don't know if anyone can help or not.. but i am in a desprate situation whereas i have to swallow my pride and seek out some help.. i am behind rent as well as my morgage ( i own a moble home on a lot rent).. need food as well.. phone needs to stay in service since i am deaf and need it as part my text communication for hopes of landing a better job.

sister can email me to let me know if a employer calls, so i can drive over and find out what's up from there.. i work at wal-mart and alot of us have our hours cut to 20+ hrs a week, so this is hurting me fianacially.. job hunts is hard since i am deaf since most employers seems to prefer hiring a hearing person.. i know of a deaf friend who is unemployed and he went thru 20 job interviews in a month.

none of them ever called or emailed him to say he got a job.. family can't help since they all have their own problems to deal with.. i can post all the info you need if anyone needs it, such as my landlord's address and my morgage address if anyone wants to mail a check directly to them.

Yizuman I am sorry for what you and your wife are going through. It seems sometimes that once you are down things keep going that way. You certainly need a break. I hope that things start going your way soon. You two are not that Old and it would be nice to enjoy life for a change instead of worrying and suffering.

Myself I was healthy for so many years, I never needed doctors or medication, nothing. I had no empathy for others that were sick either. I went on with my life and didn't consider others who were suffering. Now in the past 2 years I have become sick, immobilized and worse each month. I can't work now and NOW I understand what its like for Others.

I don't know you Yizuman but I do feel for you both. I hope you get a break and I am sure the Govt will reassess your wifes cut off. Maybe go to your local Govt rep or even go public with it if he/she won't help. The Almighty USA cannot leave one of their citizens destitute when they are in such need.

I was working for myself all my life so I don't get benefits when I am sick. I got stricken with MS 2 years ago but still continued to do some work. 4 months ago I fell and broke my arm and tore my shoulder rotator cuff. It put my MS into full gear and now I can't walk or do anything but sit.

I now am looking for help from the Govt myself. I go next week to see my local govt official to try and get disability payments from the Govt

Elders Contempt for the Old & Disabled

as they get older many loyal jws find it hard to get to the meetings due to poor health and disability , my mother falls into this category.

there are also others who are disabled or unable to physically be at meetings from time to time.

for many years our congregation taped the meetings and distributed these tapes so all could enjoy the spiritual food of the meetings.

I also experienced that the Old and disabled are ignored or cast aside. I was raised a JW but have been out for 25 years. My Mom was a devoted by the book JW for over 50 years until she died Oct 2006. She truely believed in practicing what she preached and she always helped the old, disabled, discouraged etc and visited them, phoned them. Then her turn came, she got brain cancer in 2005 and it quickly disabled her. She couldn't walk or drive or leave the house without 2 people helping her. That was 4 years ago. I had not been near a JW other than my Mom for over 20 years, I was shocked when I noticed my Mom was NOT getting any help from them. Her mind was going and she thought they would help her but they didn't. She did have the telephone thing for the meetings. She would have preferred to go to the meetings but NO one would take her. I asked the one lady who was her so called friend why they couldn't take her. She said it was to hard to get the wheelchair in the car, also my Mom needed help going to the bathroom and no one wanted to deal with that. WHAT!!!

My Mom got worse quickly and NO one wanted to help, all her so called Brothers and Sisters disappeared. No phone calls no visits. Well the pioneer couple visited once a month to get their hours in. I helped her of course but I wasn't about to go to meetings so she just didn't get to go. I had been out of the "truth" for 25 years and still thought it might be the truth but after that experience I started to realize that maybe it wasn't the truth. She died 3 years ago and after the fiasco of the funeral etc I went online and discovered groups like this one. What a eye opener.

They only hurt themselves (the JW's) by being the way they are now. People like my Mom don't notice it and always make excuses but their relatives, and outsiders who know them and that are not JW's will notice.

By their fruits you will know them. My Mom was so proud to quote that to me and she lived it. Unfortunately JW's are not into helping others anymore.

Once when I was 17. My parents were studying with this Sexpot Dutch girl who was 19. She was invited to a wedding at our congregation and met a JW guy who was 20. They were all over each other that night on the dance floor. Disappeared for awhile. she came back and we were talking and she told me they had gone and had sex. She thought that was OK. I told her it wasn't. So I told my Dad who was an elder and they called a meeting and she told them all about the encounter and the poor JW guy was disfellowshiped. He was rather weak in the truth but his whole family was in and he was harmless, just taken in by her very sexy ways. I felt really bad after and realized I should have kept my mouth shut, he was such a nice guy.

she was here for the bbq, we had an awesome time, laughing, her telling stories from our childhoods.
