Why do JW's only pick on Birthdays, Holidays, when so many other things are pagan
by Joliette ini've always wondered this, and with the holidays coming up, why does the watchtower only pick on certain things, and leave other things to question, or to the conscience?.

do you miss anything from when you were a jw?
by Newborn ina few of my friends who also used to be jw's, say they miss certain things abt it...i can honestly say that i don't miss a single thing (my sister obviously who's still in but nothing else).. before i could sometimes miss having such a strong belief but that's also gone.
i guess i've moved on big time.

I miss some of the friendships I made in. There were and still are some good people inside of JW and it is my hope they too will discover the truth about the troof and move on to live more meaningful and purposeful existences.
As far as FS, meetings, assemblies, conventions, etc., I am more than happy to be rid of those things.

Holiday field circus: From both sides of the door
by WTWizard inhere is what it is like to those on the inside of the door:.
the children got up about an hour earlier than normal.
obviously, they are anxious to start opening up the presents under the tree (and most children are not going to want to sleep in on christmas morning).

Blondie, I never knew that form of preaching was sanctioned by the Society. Very disturbing. Thank god it was never encouraged in my area. This is really a depraved cult!

Spot on, WTW! I went door to door a couple of times on Christmas and other holidays during my time as a JW and I always felt bad because I did see it as intrusion on a "worldly's" day. Being programmed to believe I was a messenger of God 24/7, I felt duty-bound, although guilty. I just stopped preaching on holidays and made myself purposely busy in case any gung-ho JW tried to guilt me into it.

Question for witnesses who were married or intimate during their time in the religion
by kurtbethel ini don't want to get graphic with this and get this thread locked, so please don't go overboard with answers.. i was having a discussion with someone about the jw experience, and was wondering if, since "jehovah" is an important part of the religion, during the moments of intense passion in a relationship, would you yell out, "oh, jehovah!
oh, jehovah!".
seriously, would a witness do that?.

LMAO @ thread. I wouldn't be surprise if some felt the need to repent after the act since this religion discourages healthy sex life even in marriages.

Has anyone successfully faded without moving out of the territory?
by NiceDream inso far i've managed to avoid speaking to the elders who drop by.
just wondering if they'll eventually give up in a couple years.
anyone have experience with this?.

I haven't been to the hall in a little over a year and still live in the same territory. None of the dubs have bothered to contact me and I rarely run into them. Most of them try to reach me through my parents. They will tell my parents how much they missed me and that I should call them. I would normally reply that my number hasn't changed and if they are interested, they can call me. However, I don't want to be placed on the radar, so I keep my thoughts to myself and continue my happy fading.

How does a person move up in the WTS?
by Libelle ini guess i should have said, "how does a man move up" since they're a male-only ruling class.... what does it take to become an elder, and so on up?
i don't really think the mr. is in the running for any special titles, but just in case in the future something along these lines happens, how does the hierarchy work?
(probably not a true consideration, being that he's married to me, but hey, i'm sure stranger things have happened).. .

Racial question about the annointed aka 144,000...
by Joliette inas an african american associate of jehovah's witnesses (since the age of 5, actually i remember going to the kingdom hall as young as 3).
i've always wondered why most of the annointed were and are white.
i know there are a lot of white people on here so why is it that there are.

I've only met one suppose black annointed member. I found nothing of significance about him that stood him out different from the earthly class. I believe the same to be true about any of these so-called annointed, whether they are the collective FDS or of the GB or whatever other term they apply to themselves.
Although many of the questions asked here are thought-provoking, it only shows how bizzare this cult truly is.
