well, it's that time of year again.
the memorial season is upon us and jws the world over are getting ready for the celebration which this year falls on 17 april.
for the first time since 1975, yours truly will not attend and i couldn't be happier.
Last year was the first that I missed in 49 years, no one even asked if we were going. (I feel for you palmtree). I'm glad I'm not going, they are all over "interested" ones, but dfs one they completely ignore, I wish some "interested" ones would notice and say where's the love.

so i was posting on the forum and 2 neatly dressed jws came.
they didnt know who i was so i opened the door.... .
they started with their regular fear inspiring statements that god will destroy the "world", so i asked if he was gonna destroy me..... and thats where the fun started.
I wish I had some jws call at my door. But I've taken note of how you handled them and will remember not to attack their beliefs, but ask them to explain them.

while you're reading what this sick child was put through at the hands of ignorant religious zealots, i think you will feel the emotional pain and anger i did.
how in the world can the witnesses in this child's world believe that they have love for others, when by their actions, they demonstrated that they don't.
Thanks for posting this Barbara, and I'm so sorry Mary. 20 odd years ago when my son was 4 years old and he had his tonsils out, he couldn't stop bleeding and we had to take him back to the hospital. I was disfellowshiped at the time and not with my son's mother(who is a really nice lady). Anyway all the liason bros came out of the woodwork, giving support(making sure no blood was given) to my ex. So much pressure for her, so we held off for as long as we could, until the doctors said they couldn't stop the bleeding and he was definately going to die. Well I had nothing to lose, and they still weren't talking to me, even though they could see how distraught I was(constantly crying), so I said to give him the blood, and he was fine and he is as healthy as ever. Unfortunately he is a jw, but I'm trying to help him see how much of a cult it is, very slowly.

and i hope he and the mrs are ok. the area he lives in go hit with alot of snow last week and along with the snow there were a lot of power outages.
i'm hoping flip and the mrs are keeping warm.. good folks, the both of them.. .
Hi flipper, I'm from Australia and we will be in the US on holidays from the 24th June for about 3weeks. Love to meet some ex-jws. Starting holiday at Los Angeles and driving after 2nights to San Franscico. Anyway be nice to meet some of you guys.

notice the highlighted boxes.... first the indication that the catholic church does not consider gambling itself a sin... and then challenges that because no scriptural passages are given in proof of their assertion.. the very next column though, the wts admits that the bible does not directly mention gambling.
so, um, how do you expect the catholics to come up with scriptures if there are none?.
How hypocritical, when I stopped going 5 years ago, there was an elders's son-in-law in my cong that convinced everyone (not just in my cong, but worldly's too), to invest in a finance company that gives high returns, and of course was investing in high risk ventures(to me that is gambling with other peoples money). Anyway the cocompany went broke because he syphoned all the money with the help of his brother and nephew and declared himself broke, even though in his wifes name there was over $10 million in assets and money. Lots of pensioners and elderly people lost their life savings. The company was called "Fincorp", it was in Australia and nothing at all happened to him or his family. Yet if they see you buy a $2 lottery ticket and they'll come after you. Go figure.

the brothers in the writing department that cooked up the "overlapping generations" for jws, is hard at work on next years district conventions talks and books.
do you have any ideas for them?.
I think it will be this next generation overlapping with the next and the next overlapping with the next and so on and so on.......... And they will add "that evidently that Jesus meant that without any doubt".

not that i'm thinking about it, even for a brief nano-second, but something i have thought about is this, is there any way you could go back and not have people look at you with the stink eye?
after admitting your true feelings, how in the world could people ever look at you the same?

The Kingdom Hall that was bombed was Casula in west of Sydney. One person died and some injured. I can remember them saying that the one who died was only just studying(like it was alright he died and not a "true" witness). it's creepy that they require you to "study" for all meetings and show that you "underlined" to get reinstated.. think about that for a second.
before they let you back in they make you prove that you have been at least partially re-indoctrinated.. i mean, in the end, what does "underlining" really prove?

Its true about underlining. When my wife was getting re-instated, I would underline her mags and books, to make her look good. I havn't been df, just faded. As soona she got re-instated(because of family) she hasn't been back and no-one has even contacted her. That was 18 months ago, they really care for their sheep.......
