Music is my favorite thing too. As I was fading from the Borg I rediscovered my love for rock. Music is the one thing that keeps me sane!

Single at 40 .JW virgins.
by sleepy income on admit it, if you were brought up a witness you were dead scared that you were going to end up like the men you saw prowling the assembles and congregations looking for wives.. there would always be men and women in there 30's and 40 who had never had a boy or girl friend.. i used to know quite a few.. the horror of their lives shocks me.. now i not dissing anyone who has chosen not to marry that is their choice.but these people i know want to meet someone and get married.. but the bad news is that the older they get the harder it is to find a wife .what makes it worse is that the choice is so limited.. many of these grown men are even affraid of women .
why?.
because they are taught that even to look at a woman is to commit imorality let alone talk to one.. i knew a brother who had never had a girl friend , he was about 26 at the time.now a sister asks to go out with him so he accepts.quite soon she wants to hold his hand.. this brother now tells her off, for in the family book it says holding hands is only for people who are going to get married.. he doesn't go out with such a spiritually weak sister again.. what has the socity done to these peoples lives.. many people who were once happy teenagers hoping to meet the wife or husband of their dreams are now approaching 40 or even older and have never even had a girlfriend.theri only hope is the new system and i don't want to breack the news to them but its not coming.

Sleepy mentioned the limited choice of single JWs. This reminded me of one of the stupidest comments that I ever heard in an assembly talk. Close as I can figure this would have been in the late 70's. One of those talks about marrying only in the lord...the brother stated that surely out of two million JW's we would be able to find a mate. HELLO??? We meet JWs at our hall and at assemblies, half or which are old ladies. Sheer stupidity! Even sadder, everyone sitting there nodding in agreement. Jeez, I should have woke up a lot sooner than I did!

Only real life as a JW can take more twists and turns than a soap opera. Can't wait for the next episode!

Happy JW Marriages the Impossible Dream?
by IslandWoman inwhile it is not impossible to have a happy marriage in the jw religion for many it is hard, for some it is very hard to maintain happiness in their marriage.
the watchtower raises the bar so very high in every aspect of life, marriage included.
the watchtower literature encourages a jw married couple to be practically perfect, or at least that is the goal set before them.

IW, this post hit me like a ton of bricks! My husband and I have also been married for 30 yrs. Your post makes so much sense. Not only do we need to get to know each other, but we need to get to know ourselves as well. I am learning so much from these boards. Thank you and everyone else for such insightful thoughts!

When I started going to meetings in the mid 70's they really did seem to be much more lively and interesting. The children were involved more and the smiles seemed sincere. By the late 90's when I left things seemed so different. Boring, boring, boring, fake smiles, and everyone just seemed downright miserable. I know I was. So glad to be free!

Special Dub Words That Make You Go YUK!
by Englishman infor me, the word was "loving".. great "loving" kindness.. great undeserved "loving" kindness!.
disfellowshipping is a "loving" provision.. when the wtbts want their accolytes to swallow another bitter pill, another restriction, another rebuke, another demand on time, the buzz word is "loving".. the "loving" word, is, to the average jw, the same as the mccabe nod is to the salesman.
the mccabe nod is used by salesman all the time to get the prospective customer to agree to something that he doesn't care for too much.

I also had a JW dream last night. (Actually, it was more like a nightmare.) Dreamt that my husband talked me into going to a Circuit Assembly. Anyway, right before I woke up I decided to tell him that there was no way I would go. I think this nightmare was brought on because of the thread about Joel going back to the KH. There is no way I could ever go back.
