Are you a stay at home mom, working woman with or with out children or a combination of both?
by restrangled ini am asking this based on sd-7's posts and am curious what you consider fair as far as house upkeep in the position you are in.. i was raised in the 60/70 decades from parents married in the 1950's so i seem to have a pretty old fashioned idea of what "housewife" means.. when i was working i had no tolerance for any slop habits, but since i'm home i don't require much.. so what are your ideals, how does your home operate?

I saw your post earlier Restrangled, from my phone and couldn't answer.
I was a stay at home mom for about 16 years, off and on. I would work some, part PART time mostly, save for 3 years while I was a single mom, where I worked a lot, parented, and partied <ahem>. Just recently I went "back to work" but I'm self employed, and trying harder to be self motivated.
I was never a very good housewife, but I rocked as a mom, I think....jury is still out on that one.
My husband is a neat freak, and would complain that things aren't to his standards, and then I'd push forth a huge effort, and then I'd slide again. It was hard work, as there are more than the average amount of kids, and a really huge house. Excuses I know.
Now our roles are reversed, he's not a working parent right now, and does the running and school stuff, and going to the store we do together because we enjoy it....if I'm busy he'd gladly go without me. He's understanding now how hard it is to do things around the house, be a parent, and make all ends meet, and has apologized for being so judgemental and critical. I tell him just be glad none of them are still breastfeeding, in diapers, and that he doesn't have to gestate!
It does mean a lot that he realizes what it takes, and has thanked me for allowing him to take this time being layed off to enjoy his kids and appreciate my role.

Well it's about 30 minutes from sit down and get to it time, and I'm enjoying a glass of ginger ale. I will then go get my child from a school function that last year she would have been penalized for not attending, having to make up the concert activity. I will then come home and have some nice french bread, dipped into oil with roasted garlic and rosemary, and a nice glass of Guenoc Victorian Claret. All while watching LOST, and then V
HIGHLIGHTS:
I didn't rush, I didn't shop. I didn't buy an outfit for each kid that is borderline Easter, without trying to be Easter, and worry about it being too chilly here in the Kansas nighttime air. I didn't have to worry about who was going where afterwards, and what I was going to spend on dinner, and what to talk about. I didn't have to sit through a boring ignore Jesus speel, if he was real, and if he cares.....if I'm not convinced he was/did, why should I?
I will, just to cover my bases, have the internal conversation that I do when confronted with the 1st (Christmas, birthdays, Halloween, assemblies, school functions, and now missing the Memorial) If there is a God, and He has a sense of humor and compassion, He'll be more forgiving than I ever can imagine if I'm wrong and am doing the opposite of what I should. If He is what the Watchtower says He is, and He destroys me for this (insert occasion here) then he can suck it. I wouldn't knowingly "serve" that one single more second. Amen.

so why dont they cut to the chase at the door???
by oompa inas in..."hi, my name is soa fraid and i hope you will accept my offer for a free home bible study.
the reason you should accept this free offer is that our leaders, the men who have compiled the material for this study receive direct communication from god, and he speaks to no other religion on earth.
they then write down what god has told them to, and publish it in a zillion languages so that we can teach people what god really meant in his new world translation of the holy scriptures...you may refer to it as the bible.

Because they aren't truly selling religion.
