  once again the extremely controlling measures taken by the wt society are evident in the "witness only " nov.15th wt article " treasure your place in the congregation ".

  as time goes on the governing body keeps pushing the thought into witnesses minds that the " faithful & discreet slave " is the boss , god, main enchilada , the one through whom rank and file witnesses must answer to in order for jehovah to approve them.

  so strap your seat belts on: this should be interesting.. under the subheading " cherish our place- how ?

  It is articles like these that make me so mad now. Once your eyes are open to the manipulation it does grate on your nerves. But until recently I would have seen this advice as reasonable and loving.

  Well Said Nugget - I think we all felt like that most of the time.

  OUTLAW always tells it like it is - these SOB's love to cut Jesus out of the picture. Didn't Jesus WARN against people like this?

  Didn't Jesus come to demolish a system where a bunch of old power-hungry slave drivers tried to run every aspect of peoples' lives?

  They have replaced themselves as the mediator. Listen to us or else!

  I need your opinion, helping a love one see the “light”

  ill have a long weekend this week because of the thanksgiving holyday.

  i made plans to have the entire weekend off with no activities in order to have time to begin to awake my wife.

  i dont plan to lay everything out in one day, nor take the approach of we are living this organization, rather, im taking the approach of here is some information that we should consider and think about.

  This is the only one that has made any headway with me recently. I have had several "Come to Jesus" meetings with various family members, and this is the one point where the "NEW LIGHT" argument doesnt get thrown in my face.

  I told my family members that based on my own personal experiences as an elder and an incident within my own family where a loved one was abused, those were enough to disgust me. Once I read several of the court cases that Barbara Anderson posted on her site, I have several more round of ammo to use. Several of my family members are at least considering the information i have shared and at least have an understanding of why I feel the way I do. I still get the "wait on Jehovah" argument at times, but not very strong. If holy spirit appoints men, why do they bounce pedophiles around to other halls like the Catholic Church has been skewered for?

  LeavingWT is right, and I have used the S-L-O-W approach as well. If you come out both guns blazing, you might cause way too much damage. I have had to back way off a couple of times since I hit a few nerves on occasion.

  I love the irony of the new year text. I saw the latest WT study edition and there it was.

  I have used 1 Corinthians 13 so much lately to argue how UNLOVING the organization is.......

  I have compared a couple of local elders as "loud clashing cymbals" and have told a couple of others that i think the elders as a whole are trained by the Society (TM) to be condescending and unloving toward the Friends (TM)

  The WT spin on this scripture pisses me off - to me it comes down to:

  How do elders step down?

  if an elder or ms wants to step down, what is the process?

  can it be as simple as saying "i need to step down" without having to supply an explanation?.

  Its a fairly easy process.

  You can offer your resignation verbally or in writing. The paperwork aspect is handled by the BOE and submitted to the Society.

  Like Oompa said, you usually have to give a half-truth as to why you are resigning.

  i can scarcley believe my eyes.

  i read in another thread about c. t. russells attitude that his 'studies in the scriptures' is better than the bible and come to the conclusion they are not god abandoned today, god was never there.. fast forward to modern times and they are still at it, likening their body of teachings as being part of the bible.. most of you already know the pasages in their own lit that i refer to, i'm just stating my feelings as i dismantle a 38 year old belief system.. it seems to me, that all along, the belief of the watchtower society is this: our writings are true, they are backed up by the bible.

  rather than, the bible is true, backed up by our writings.. disapointed.

  Isnt that the "truth"?

  One of my big awakenings was "Well, it seems like lately it has been more about the WTS than the Bible."

  Then, once I stepped back and actually studied everything with a critical eye, I realized it has ALWAYS been that way. They dogmatically push the fact that they are God's voice on this earth. You reject them, you reject God. You disobey them, you disobey God. You don't peddle enough magazines and get enough field service hours, you are not doing enough for God.

  The springboard for me was the pedophilia cases - I have seen way too many people in my life deeply affected, and the lack of love and respect for these poor victims by the WTS and their elders made me want to vomit. I resigned as an elder since I refused to handle those cases the way the WTS wants people to - sweep it under the rug. They care more about the organization than the people in it - then use the guise of "well, we dont want to bring dishonor to Jehovah's name." Sorry fellas, but you are already doing a damn fine job in that department!!

  I am in the same age bracket (mid to late 30's) and am breaking apart the "strongly entrenched things" day by day.

  just found out that there is a sex offender in my hall.

  the "brother" that i was with said " the brothers will make sure that he is not put with any kids in service".

  I HATE hearing stuff like this.

  Most elders are naive idiots if they think "Oh, well he cant work with kids in service" is enough to stop these sick bastards.

  If the predators dont get them out in service, they will get them another way - babysitting, befriending families in the hall, etc.

  We had the old "Grandpa" type elder who loved the little girls. We had the middle-aged guy who was everyone's "Uncle" who liked the little girls. I wish someone would have known because those MF-ers ruined so many young girls that I grew up with. Of course, one girl came forth and was threated with disfellowshipping for slander (13 years old - my heart still breaks for her)

  I have not heard of many cases where these people can be rehabilitated. In my opinion, 99% of them cannot. They should be castrated or better yet, removed from the gene pool.

  The only way to protect the kids is to shout it from the rooftops - if I was a JW again and it happened in the congregation, I wouldnt care if they disfellowshipped me because everyone in the congregation would know there is a molester among them.

  hey folks, someone sent me this link by this writer who claims to have traveled to an alternate dimension where the beatles never broke up.

  he posted the whole album to download.. i doubt the story obviously but since there's alot of beatles fans on the board i figured i'd share it with all of you.

  A lot of it is lifted from all of the solo albums. I listened to the first track and started laughing.

  At least someone has a vivid imagination!

  I was talking to a friend yesterday. We still marvel at the quality and quantity of work they did in just over 7 years. Most bands take 3-4 years to do an album now. Those guys busted one out every few months and a great portion of the work is considered classics.

  Gossip was the single most damaging thing to my friends and family.

  It drove my dearest friends from the congregation and threw my family into a tailspin that took them many years to get over.

  It was all fueled by the most "spiritual" in the congregation - Pioneers, Elders and their children, etc......

  Looking back, I just wish that I would have followed my friends out the door, instead of hanging on to the "TRUTH"

  My buddy and I were just discussing the whole situation a while back, since he has been there for me as I have been fading.

  The gossip was the spark for them, then once the elder body protected themselves by scapegoating the families and "blacklisting" everyone to the CO and to Big Brother, that was it for them.

  this morning i thought i had seen a pair of jws walk by my door twice and i think they left something at her door.
