I don't understand your dilemma, the qoute says 1896, that is after 1879. Sure, the philosophy was probably starting to form before that, but it got named only in 1896, when Zion's Watchtower was already being printed for 17 years.

ZION's Watchtower: Is WTS a Zionist Organization?
by cameo-d inwouldn't this make them a political organization in spite of their "neutrality" doublespeak?.
could this have anything to do with the rutherford/rothschild land acquired in israel?

Here's the JW answer to it all......
by palmtree67 ini was talking to a jw friend about what it was that ct russell was doing prior to 1914 that made him acceptable to jesus, over everyone else.. i mentioned the pyramids, celebration of "pagan" holidays, stealing of thoughts from other religious people, the "odd" lifestyle of russell, etc.
and i asked, "so, what was it that made ct russell more acceptable to god than anyone else at that time?".
the answer:.

Jesus could see into the future and could tell that they were the only ones searching and would eventually come to the correct teachings on things.
Weren't the corrections of teachings because of "new light" given to the FDS? That means Jesus could just pick any lunatic, "direct the light" towards him (think of a giant mirror here), and presto, the correct teachings arrive.
So your question is still up: "what was it that made CT Russell more acceptable to God than anyone else at that time?" Why was he the chosen lunatic out of the other hundreds of millions on the planet?

The only thing I can think of worthwile stealing from my KH is the audio equipment. I can't imagine what can a KH do with candles though.

Going offtopic here, but I feel like in a hair splitting mood.
Technically eternity doesn't guarantee that everything conceivable and unconceivable will happen. You might wait for one googol years, and still you won't have your purple unicorn, then the googols of years just pass away, and you're still walking, waiting for your coloured friend to arrive (a case similar to you-know-what). Just like you might toss a regular coin a thousand times, and it lands every time on head. Given eternity throws the equations off the charts, and for all intents and purposes the probability of any given event will be 100%, yet it's still a thought away from reaching 100%.
We don't have to wait for eternity to arrive to us to have fun with it, we have it at our hands. PI for example is an irrational number that goes on forever. Given its infinite length, you may conclude that PI has hidden in itself a song... or a poem... or the answer to life, the universe and everything (oh wait, I'm pretty sure PI contains 42). Good hunting

I'm with awildflower on this, she's perfectly right. Either as a spirit, or human body, but these 80 years are just too short. I don't want necessarily a perfect life, if my body would function like it does now I'd be happy. Toils and pain can have its rewards too (no, I'm not a masochist I'm just talking about a healthy appreciation of life as it is).
However I wouldn't like to live in the JWs "paradise". Conformity, and unquestioning obedience is not something to be desired for an eternity.

"large but mainstream" brings what changes next?
by agent zero inin some other threads there has been talk of wether the organization will go large and mainstream or small and hard-core in the upcoming years.. in the past few years, the sunday public talk has been shortened, the bookstudy eliminated (at least as a seperate meeting night), #2 talks are down to a simple read-through, and a little longer ago pioneering hour requirements have been shortened.
personally i would take these as signs of them going more soft and keeping a larger membership.. if this is indeed the case, what would you suspect of being cut off or changed next?.

How about having some form of "buyable field service time"? As in, you pay a fixed sum of money, then you can report the corresponding number of hours. They could justify this by saying that money will be used to fund special pioneers, so in effect you share in their field service time.
They would shoot two (or even three) birds with one stone here: it would alleviate the WTS money problems, inflate the numbers, and give a break for those who aren't too hot for FS - therefore making it easier for them to stay in.

I love the gut reaction of a normal human being to such statements: it's epic FAIL, worthy of failblog.org.

You'll be destroyed by God only if you eat the cookies.
How about if I chew, but don't swallow? We need a QFR on this very important issue.

Signing Publisher Record Cards
by IMHO ini know this doesn't apply to all countries.. however, is it a 'requirement'?.
is it enforced?.
is it optional?.

I know that if you are still in you ain't a gonna wanna do this, but for long time faders it could be a way of ensuring a kind of closure without DA etc.
The problem is I suppose, that A**hole Elders could choose to interpret even that action as DAing.
I was contemplating the same action in my thread started here, and quickly came to the same conclusion as you did: if you ask them to delete your records, they can interpret that as you're asking them not to be part of the organization, therefore it's DA.
Also, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't necessarily comply with the request (you know, their compliance to state laws is only relative). If they would actually delete the records, you could come back several years later, and they would have nothing to prove you were a JW once.
