Good for you, my wife did quite the opposite. She told me to cut her out of the blood card, because she would never witness for me in an emergency. Great darling, don't worry about it So my card lies buried deep in a drawer, and I have her word (without even asking for it) that she won't do anything.

I told my husband that I'm going to throw away my no blood card
by doublelife ini discussed my view with him and he understood the point i made but said that until he receives further instruction from the gb he will still refuse a transfusion.
i asked him if he would deny me a blood transfusion if i needed one and he said, "i don't know.
i went to lunch with my non-jw aunt and cousin and told them about the conversation.

All the intermediary fathers were secondary in the eyes of the author and not mentioned
If I remember right, that is simply because the ancient hebrews didn't have a separate word for "grandfather", and "father" was used more like you would use the word "ancestor".
And welcome European xjw. Have a seat.

A "Brother" wore a WT logo tie tack today
by JerkhovahsWitless inafter the meeting, a few people came up to show me some fake love like the wt lesson instructed (this is my 4th meeting in a row in over a year of not going, yuck!!).
i noticed one of them was wearing a tie tack of the watchtower logo.
its ok to idolize, by wearing, the corporate symbol of a worldwide multi-billion dollar company, but a cross is wrong?

However, consideration should be given to making a change if it would be minor and would not require extensive work. Otherwise it can be made when the building or sign is scheduled for renovation.
Hm, my old KH had a huge stylized watchtower (the building, not the magazine) above the entrance. It won't be minor at all to alter. I wonder how long will it last there...

KT: the main problem is not that JWs help JWs first. Read Mary's post carefuly. Thenk think why did Jesus feed the hungry ones, and please quote from the Bible all the passages where Jesus said something like: "Look! I have given food to the hungry! That's how much love there is in me. Therefore come to me to teach you the Truth about God."

Ex-JWs on Youtube band together when Silent Lambs is attacked by JW...
by Tuesday inhey folks, i thought i'd come on here with a quick update of something really cool on youtube.
there was a woman named smagisa who is an active jw that goes on youtube and basically does all the stereotypical things responding to videos.
everyone talking bad about the organization is speaking bad against god and only doing so because they're disfellowshipped or whatever.

I'm starting to think she may have some sort of brain damage, other than the regular cult-related one. Even a JW can't be that stupid to say the victims are to blame. And when a huge number of responses called her out on this stupid comment, what does she do?
Her response:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImG0onjGBz8
Incredible...
Edit: at least it seems like she is accusing SmokingNtheGraveyard over the video posted here too (the second one below Smagisa's). It's not easy to make out what is her problem, partly due to her technical difficulties.

It would be interresting to see a census of people. I was only a simple R&F, regular pioneered once, and I feel like I'm in minority here, most men were at least MS, or more up the ladder. Some have said the higher you are in the hierarchy, the more of the BS you are able to see, perhaps that's the explanation.

easier to leave christendom or wts?
by diamondiiz inthis is mostly for those that were recruited by jws from another christian religion.
i was brought up a rc and converted to wts religion when i was young and naive.
when i switched over to wts i felt some anger towards my former religion but it was nothing compare to what i feel towards wts.

Leaving my former protestant religion: went to the local priest and told him to cut me off their list. After long discussions I found out I was never on their list, because after I turned 18 I should have gone to register myself as a member of the church. Now, after clearing my head from mind control, I can see the stark contrast between my "forced" child-baptism, and the "optional" child-baptism of the JWs. A 12 year old child will be full member of the JWs before he can understand what's he getting into, and I, the "infant baptized" was never actually a member.
Leaving the JWs: the difference is the amount of control. It's a world of difference between the mainstream churches' control and the JW one. So once you fight your way out, you're left with realization that you gave up so much, and followed an immense amount of rules just to be on the good side of a cult that is in no way better than any other religion. Anger is an understatement...

What Are Some Ridiculous Things JWs Have Said?
by minimus in....either in publications, during talks or by individual witnesses?.

Adam and Eve didn't notice that they were naked before they eat the fruit, because they were too preoccupied with spiritual things.
Inspirational stories - one elder from an other congregation who often visited was constantly inserting in his public speach on of those inspirational stories you can read on the internet. I particulary remember the one that had the clear message of Carpe Diem twisted to sound like you have to go on FS more.
Urban legends - JWs are notorious for promulgating them, especially if they can spin it to support some wacko idea of theirs. I also heard the "Nasa and missing day" urban legend told as truth.

Letter from WT's Haiti Branch Committee re: Society's relief response
by Dogpatch injust got this in, don't know if it was mentioned here yet, but this illustrates how the watchtower views/responds to emergencies.
note the dig on university and "higher education" (especially sad for a poor country like haiti with poorly educated masses).. randy.
it was a terrifying moment for all!

Look to be fair, in a disaster we would all look after our family first, friends and neighbors second, then everybody else. So in that sense I don't fault the Witnesses.
True, that is the normal reaction, no fault in that. Fine by me, but: don't say you're charitable then!
With the words of Jesus:
Matthew 5:46,47 : "If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?"
