Snowbird, you have no idea. I love watching boxing, MMA, and theres days I wonder what it would be like to compete. Women don't have that raging testosterone like boys have. There's something about violence I find attractive. The JW side of me feels guilty watching it, so I turn it off. Some JWs have trouble with porn, I have trouble with boxing. I made it a point to go to bed early last Saturday so I didnt go out to a sports bar and watch the Mayweather/Mosley fight. When doing the double life thing when I was younger, I tossed hands with quite a few people, and ran with a few nonJWs that were bad news. Stupid kid I was. Only backed down when I realized it could get back to my Dad who I was scared of. I think all boys go through this at one point or another. Sad to say though, too many are ending up on the front page or in the grave too soon. The line between boys being boys, and going too far is a fine line all too often.

Feeling down
by tec inmy son got suspended from school for fighting.
not just fighting but choking another boy during their fight.
he started it in anger over something the other boy did, but none of that actually matters.

Now my son is a sophomore in high school, stands 6'1", 185 lbs. No one messes with him. He's still a goofy kid, a good kid but he's learned how to handle himself and neutralize bullies.
Eventually this is what happens. Thats why Tec, your concerned, and you should be. But at the same time, eventually a boy comes into his own as a man. I was about the same size as mrs.jones son, now I'm 6-2 255lbs, just hit my early 30's. I need to get down to 220, and I'll be straight. I walked into a supermarket one night last winter, and these three young thug high school kids were in the same aisle as me, and I walked down the aisle, and I wasnt moving out of their way. They were walking toward me. They cleared the aisle on both sides like Noah and the Red Sea. I wasn't trying to play tough guy either, its just they have to respect me as a man regardless of how thug they may see themselves. They probably would have wore me out too had I took on all three. But Tec eventually your son will be doing the same thing.
Beksbks, its cool. I just told Shamus to kiss me, so I anything is possible now.

After a bad day at work, or a long week at work, I say to myself, "boy I wish I was in high school or middle school again." Then I come across a thread like this, and the rough memories come back. That time frame is so awkward. I'm glad we don't have grow up twice. My Dad was always like, "you defend yourself when you have to." Translation:whoop his a$$. My Mom was like ,"make Jehovah happy." Well, Dad's argument won. There's something that can be said for a kid's self esteem the first time he makes an example out of someone in front of other potential predators. I guess its coming into your own as a man. Not saying it makes it right, just sayin. Then there's the fitting in with the predators. You made an example out of one of em, and now your becoming one to fit in. Using their slang, cussin like a sailor, saggin my pants, wearing certain colors. The whole time my mother was losing sleep over it. I wouldnt come home till 2 or 3 in the morning, and she'd be stressing. Dad would flip on me later. He didnt care until, she started worrying him.
Your right too Tec, the whole time I was miserable too when going through that stage. I thought I was having fun with my friends back then. That was no fun looking back at it. If I could go back, knowing what I know now.........wow. I know its cliched to say that, but its so truthful when as an adult, one looks back. Miserable time frame. Why do high school comedies, and other TV shows for young adults make it seem like the time of your life?

Daringhart13, allow me to ask you a question, I'll be brief as I don't want to hijack this thread but I think this is reasonable. Ok...what's it like to date nonJW women without looking over your shoulder?

My Dad has a ton of shoes. Ol school pretty boy, more shoes than my Mother. More shoes than most women I think. He keeps them in the boxes, and my Sister's old bedroom is just full of shoe boxes and suits. Rockports, Bostonians, too many to keep up on. I keep telling him his man card is going to get revoked. Me personally, I'm starting to get bummy (I just don't care what people think of me anymore) in my older years but as it stands now, 3 pairs of Timbs, 2 pairs of Clarks, a pair of New Balances which need replaced, and some Adolfo dress shoes for meetings/assemblies/etc..

Little Girls in the '70's KHalls: Dresses
by White Dove indo you remember the short little dresses small girls wore back then in the khall?
my mom wouldn't replace ours until they were very short on us.
she was very cheap.. when we sat down in a chair, it was very difficult to keep the skirt down far enough.. i remember getting slapped hard on bare skin several times because i couldn't keep my dress down when told to.

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian
by thetrueone intop ten signs you're a fundamentalist christian.
1 - you vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.. .
2 - you feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the biblical claim that we were created from dirt.. .

Rebel8, I agree 100%. I said it in another thread, but JWs having kids is tantamount to cruelty. Its wrong to put someone in a position where they're pressured to get baptized at an age when they're not even legally able to drink. Then hold the threat over their head of losing everyone they know and love for changing their mind when they get older. Cruel.
