The annual "JW memorial teachings vs actual Bible quotes"
by undercover in24 true, the son of man is going away, just as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man through whom the son of man is betrayed!
26 as they continued eating, jesus took a loaf and, after saying a blessing, he broke it and, giving it to the disciples, he said: take, eat.
19 they started to be grieved and to say to him one by one: it is not i, is it?

Ohhh for crying out loud, were worldly people always inviting you to stuff?!?!?!
by miseryloveselders inlast friday, a woman i work with, who reminds me of scully from the x-files, asked me to hang out with her and her friends at a watering hole not that far from where we work.
she and her friends get off roughly an hour before i get off, and considering the amount of work i had on my desk at the time, and the amount of time i wasted on here, i knew it'd would be a while before i caught up with them.
so i told her i'll try, but i won't get off until roughly 6:30pm or later.

Last Friday, a woman I work with, who reminds me of Scully from the X-Files, asked me to hang out with her and her friends at a watering hole not that far from where we work. She and her friends get off roughly an hour before I get off, and considering the amount of work I had on my desk at the time, and the amount of time I wasted on here, I knew it'd would be a while before I caught up with them. So I told her I'll try, but I won't get off until roughly 6:30pm or later. She said thats fine, they'll be waiting. Needless to say, I didn't show up. Today I talked with her, and she and her girlfriend were asking why I didn't show. I told her that I got off late, and figured they would be gone by the time I would have shown up. Which was partially true, that and ummm the idea of hanging out with worldly women at a nightspot. I didn't mention the latter part of my reasoning, obviously.
Yesterday, I mentioned the rainy weather we had, and the conversation I had with an engineer I know. Well later on in the day, when I got off work, the weather took a turn for the worst. It was really windy, and rainy, and downright cold. I had a lightweight jacket on, and would have worn a P-Coat had I known it would change as it did. I didn't drive yesterday, but I did have an umbrella so i walked to that same spot to wait for the bus under this huge office building's overhead roof. While there, I saw a distant collague, whom I never really talked to before outside of the context of work. He's a Hispanic fellow, which in this city is rare. He's been in the States for roughly two years, and married an American, and moved to our city straight from Mexico. I asked him if there was any spots here that he mingled at with other Hispanics. He told me about a spot that he goes to every Thursday. He then invited me to come with him the next time he goes, and made a point to tell me that there is all kind of beautiful women at this place, and that'd I'd love it. I thanked him for the offer, all the while hoping he doesn't keep good on his invitation.
Its funny when you have one foot in the door, and another one out, the offers you get from nonJWs. The JW upbringing isn't too easy to shake either, as I feel like Satan is making a go at me. I know that's silly, its rubbish, but like I said, this religion tentacles are still significantly attached to me.
You ever have those tug of wars with your heart when the worldlies invite you to stuff? Care to share?

At different stages of your life, what did you lack, that deprived you of fulfillment or completeness?
by miseryloveselders ini don't believe that there is such a thing as a perfect, or an ideal situation.
ideal is the more appropriate word to use, because the word itself denotes a conception, a remote possibility, not a reality.
i'm asking you, in your lifetime, have you ever found complete fulfillment, or felt complete within yourself, and your accomplishments?

shameless bump for anybody else who'd like to share their experiences of unfulfillness.

How Old Were You When You First Became "Aware" ...
by snowbird in... of the opposite sex?.
it was the summer of 1966; i was a few months shy of being 13; it happened on our church ground.. i was hurrying between two vehicles to get into the building, when someone blocked my way.. annoyed, i looked up to find this cute, cute guy looking at me appreciatively.. he asked my name.. i froze and blushed profusely, agitated and confused at the tingling feeling in my tummy.. i didn't bother to answer him, but turned in the opposite direction and rushed into the safety of the church.. i sat down beside my mother, took her fan and fanned myself furiously!.
afterwards, i told an older sister about the incident.. she gave me an envious stare and chided me for being so doggone shy.. ah, memories .... syl.

Very good misleading thread title LOL. I was all ready to come in here and type, 31.
Things started getting complicated around 7th or 8th grade for me, and I was completely girl crazy around 9th or 10th grade. When I was in 7th grade, there was a girl in 8th grade who I had a crush on. I wrote her a love letter, and put it in my denim jacket pocket. Denim outfits were popular at the time. I was too scared to give the letter to her, so later when my mom was washing clothes, she came across the letter which was so embarrasing.
In hindsight, those years were strange because on one hand I'm noticing that there's something I like about girls, but at the same time they were fair game as far as fighting was concerned. Back then I'd beat up a girl the same way I'd do another male. There was some females back then who could more than hold their own against another boy. I never will forget this girl named Alicia, she was no joke. She had most guys shook, when it came to fighting. Had me scared too, that broad could rumble. The last girl I beat up was in 8th grade, and I have to say it was a memorable ass whoopin. I guess you can say I went out with a bang.
It wasn't till about 9th or 10th grade all of that changed, and then I couldn't see myself punching a girl, but I could see myself doing a whole lot of other things with them. Used to love when girls had the big gold ear rings, the leather rider boots, the denim outfits. I wanted to smash MC Lyte and Salt from Salt N Peppa so bad back then. Salt had the finger waves which was really hot to me back then. Monie Love was another female emcee I wanted to give the goods to. Those were good memories.

My Study Conductor Jumped Ship - Any Possible Explanations?
by InterestedOne inmy study conductor has informed me that he & his wife are switching to a foreign language congregation that is far away from the territory they live in (it will involve a lot of driving back & forth).
because he is switching congregations, he said he will not have the energy to devote to my study and recommended another brother who could take over, and i have met him.
however, this change happened simultaneously with a decision i have made.

Any active JW's on here? I was wondering if there is a new agenda with them. If you dont show signs of being a follower right away they drop you?
If Blondie is reading this, maybe she can reference this. Some years ago I seem to recall a KM that didn't exactly come out with a time limit for how many months a JW studies with someone, but it did lead one to conclude that there is a such thing as too long.
Consider yourself lucky: You've managed to see through they're crap before getting baptized, so they can't do anything to you. LOL!
This is so true.

It makes sense even from a financial aspect. I'm not doing too bad financially at this time, but I'd be less stressed if I had an addition $10,000 a year.
On the flipside of that, the WT will avoid articles such as this like an apostate plague. Another funny thing, the Theocratic Education that they tout as superior to all education, leaves the average JW more stressed than anything.

I missed that episode. Now I'm wondering if one of their writers or producers has a JW connection.
