re-enforcing the shunning of immediate family - WT 7-15-11
by undercover injuly 15th wt study edition (regular dumb edition, not the dumber one).
god's rest - have you entered into it?.
subheading, when someone we love leaves jehovah.

Poor Jehovah, feeling bad about families attempting to remain families.
Yet thousands die each day from hunger, war and disease and not a peep from the guy.
"Let them all die! I'm hurt because John and Mary Smith are not really conducting "necessary family business" with John Jr."
Makes perfect sense!
really does put things in perspective!

Notice the trigger words within that article, sheesh!
Today, Jehovah does not immediately execute those who violate his laws.
Will they obey Jehovha's clear direction?
how Jehovah feels about what they are doing.
After all, their son had a choice, and he chose to pusue his unchristian lifestyle rather than to continue to enjoy close association with his parents and other fellow believers.
They play off of emotions, particulary fear. Couple other things that disturb me is, how they insinuate that its enjoyable to have close association with fellow believers. If the association of JWs is so enjoyable, why do so many want to get away from it? Why are so many ecstatic over a cancelled meeting due to the weather or other circumstances? Why do 2/3 of born-ins leave at one point or another? Why are there regularly WT articles emphasizing regular meeting attendance, and avoiding association with the world?

July 15th WT out - Coming out Swinging at Apostates Hard
by LostGeneration inthis is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).
avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.
(para 7, pg 16).

And this is exactly what led to my leaving the religion, albeit indirectly.
Same here, it was comments like this that made my Spidey senses start going haywire. The article "Help Them Return Without Delay" had a comment that pretty much screamed, "explore your options!!" Mary did an awesome covering for Blondie for that weeks Watchtower Study JWN style, found here.
The paragraph that did it for me contained this question. I'll paste it below.
Paragraph 11 continues: "....Have those who stopped associating with the Christian congregation found another place where there is rich spiritual food? No, for there is none!"
Tell me that doesn't scream paranoia and fear emanating from the WT. Paragraphs like that have me wondering if there's an undercover apostate writing this stuff trying to wake people up. Or maybe they really do believe that these paragraphs are all it takes to prevent their flock from "exploring their options."

Top ten ways to improve this year's Memorial
by JimmyPage in10. have the coboe greet everyone at the door dressed as the easter bunny.. 9. wine for the anointed and beer for the great crowd.. 8. bland unleavened bread replaced by hawaiian sweet rolls.. 7. memorial talk replaced by live local congregation production of "jesus christ superstar".. 6. kh library reserved to commemorate buddha for those of the "reincarnated class".. 5. no brothers passing the emblems, instead will be single sisters in bikinis.. 4. inactive ones issued complimentary marijuana joint to help them cope with being dragged back to the hall again.. 3. suit and ties forbidden, replaced by t-shirts emblazoned with "jesus is my homeboy".. 2. raffle to win copy of "crisis of conscience" autographed by the governing body.. 1. guest appearance by jesus himself, but only in brooklyn.. .

To me, the ultimate way to improve this year's Memorial, would be to "observe" it at home. Kind of like working from home with remote desktop by Windows. By the way, considering that the Passover was something that Jews celebrated with their families in a somber, family oriented setting, and then the disciples celebrated with Jesus in an intimate setting.........would it make sense to NOT do it at the Kingdom Hall with 100 other mofos? It's not exactly intimate with a ton of other folks, especially considering none of us can partake of the emblems as we're only observers. Its just a formality, same ol talk outline, same ol inactive and DFd people show up every year, same ol nightmare of a time trying to get out of the parking lot, same ol attractve nonJW women show up that I can't partake of, etc..

This in particular stands out to me. Apparently the higher ups have noticed that when JW Apologists post their rebuttals on apostate blogs, or forums such as this, or even news articles that allow comments.....the higher ups have noticed that the JW Apologists get ROASTED. I mean SLAUGHTERED, to the point that for the WT's sake it'd be better if the apologists just didn't bother at all.

A brother in my congregation has Aspergers. His condition is noticeable from his physical appearance, demeanor, mannerisms, amongst other things. From the first time you see him, its obvious to you that he has issues that are beyond depression. I don't know how much Aspergers varies as far as mild to severe, but he's definately a peculiar, interesting fellow. He's the type of person that will never let you get too close to him. Surprisingly to some, he's nice to have around. Times that I've enjoyed field service, it was because I was working with him. I genuinely enjoy his company, although he makes me do all the talking. There's just something about him that I don't know how to quite describe to you. Its like I can let my guard down around him, and we talk about pretty much anything. Not to sound demeaning, but similar to a dog that gives you unconditional love, this brother is always the same around you, no matter the weather or whats going on his life.
There's times I've sat out in the lobby at the meeting as an attendant, and he'd come out and sit with me. Won't utter a word, but if he's comfortable and happy, then so am I. In fiedl service, when I've worked with him, I'd laugh at something we both seen, and he'd grin and laugh too. Because of his condition, its hard to tell at times whether or not he actually gets what we're laughing at. Like I find myself questioning if he's just laughing because I'm laughing. I guess at the end of the day, he's not retarded, just socially handicapped if that makes sense.

Ohhh for crying out loud, were worldly people always inviting you to stuff?!?!?!
by miseryloveselders inlast friday, a woman i work with, who reminds me of scully from the x-files, asked me to hang out with her and her friends at a watering hole not that far from where we work.
she and her friends get off roughly an hour before i get off, and considering the amount of work i had on my desk at the time, and the amount of time i wasted on here, i knew it'd would be a while before i caught up with them.
so i told her i'll try, but i won't get off until roughly 6:30pm or later.

You know what, reading all these comments, makes my chest hurt. It gets real tight, almost like I pulled a muscle or something. I'll have to look at this thread later on and do some soul searching, but I have to get out of here. Sigh.

A Gift of Literature to JWs Everywhere
by ABibleStudent inhave you ever wanted to give something to a jw that shows how much you care about them, as an individual (possibly even as friend/family member)?
have you ever wanted to free the mind of a jw?
if you have asked yourself these types of questions, how do you feel jws would respond to receiving and reading the following flyer?
