What Things Were YOU Counseled For?

elders love to counsel people.

it feeds their ego.

over the years, you must've been counseled on different things.. when i was almost of age to become a ms, an elder counseled me for my "lack of seriousness".

Irr. same thing for me.

A single Elder, who claimed to be of the annointed, who oftened threatened to hit you with lightening bolts in the new system, if you ever made fun of him, said this to me.

"If you want to be an Elder, you need to take control of your headstrong wife."

I asked why he thought she was headstrong? "Her comments at the meeting. She is way too smart. She needs to comment on sister like things, the more simple ones."

Some of you are thinking, that has to be impossible. But that's what this primadonna said in words and tone.

He later became a CO and still is. Honestly, I won't be surprised to see him on the GB some day.

What is the Biblical basis JWs are not allowed to 'witness' in churches?

we know the book of acts shows paul doing just that.

since the wt claims to model itself off the 1st century christians, why this change?.

Preaching in Churches is now wrong?? What is the GB afraid of?

I grew up as a JW in a Religious University town that was very progressive. They were always calling the KH for guest JW speakers. Two of our local JW's became very good at speaking at their church and starting many Bible studies.

Even the Mormons invited them to speak at a religious study group.

At the end they always offered a formal individual Bible study. I personally knew several that became JW's from this method.

The only bad experience? At an Evanglical church, at the the appointed time, the Minister had everyone in the room stand like robots, and shout obscenities. Then they walked out, not the JW's, but the church members, even the minister!

One of the JW's said to the other, "should we turn the lights out and lock the door for them"

As they went outside to their car, the group now followed them shouting hateful obscenities. The minister stood back, with an approving smile. (sound familiar?)

One of the JW's thought they were demon possesed because of their extreme hatefulness and anger.

Incredibly, one of the 'hateful ones' contacted them later, studied, and became a JW.

As a JW Were You or Someone you Knew Falsely Accused by Elders ?

thought i'd put this out there to see if you knew of people in the jehovah's witnesses who were falsely accused or mistreated by the " police " or elders in the congregation.

many times it's been by experiencing injustices that get us to get shaken out of our cult thinking mode and reality kicks in and the scales fall from our eyes that the wt society is just a man made organization whose leaders are no better than us - actually in many cases more unscrupulous and conniving than any of us would have ever been to each other !

Falsely accused? Yes, several times, but will just share a relatively minor one. Wow, Flipper, that sounded tough, glad in the end it worked out well.

I had a poor business dealing with a JW who just happened to know one of my local Elders. Little did I know he spread some lies about it to this Elder who shared with some of the Elders my supposed short comings.

They decided to discipline me and my wife without telling us anything. 'Secret Reproof' as we called it later.

We noticed they refused to call on us for comments nor were we given any school assignments. We were suspicious something was wrong. I mentioned my thoughts to one of the Elders I trusted.

His thoughts? He never heard of anything, so it couldn't be true.

We tested the theory. I raised my hand on EVERY WT pp and was not called on to comment. He noticed it as well.

He told me after the study to stay at the KH. The Elders were having a meeting about it.

He came out later, was angry, and approached me with the service overseer. They apologized and said, nothing would be held back from us anymore.

He called that night to say that the WT, Bk Study, and TMS overseers made this decision independent of the Body.

We found out, this was just the beginning, when the same three tried to DF us later on false charges. "Its not nice to fool with the Elders, even when you are right"

it has come to my attention that a much-beloved poster on this forum has been hurt by the insensitivity shown toward her account of how badly she was treated by the wt.. i realize this is a place where are all welcome, and barring any posting guidelines violations, we are free to air our views without fear of any backlash.. however, please keep in mind that most posters here - yours truly being one of them - view the wt in a negative light.

with all the evidence out there pertaining to its deceitfulness, how can anyone view it otherwise?.

i reached out to you, angel eyes, because i sense that you need a friend.

Okay mouthy, its settled. You are staying FOREVER. No more talk of you going away. "We don't want to hear it!!!" As they all put their hands over the ears.

thought you'd might like to know but i'm officially out.

it feels great all the hurt, guilt, fear and paranoia questioning, doubts, etc etc are finally gone and it tastes and feels good what a relief.

no more pain and sorrow, only jubilation along with a sense of being finally at peace with myself.

is this true, or have they embellished the facts?

including those hiding or fading, technically how many jws are there really?

a recent thread asked if ray franz's book was instrumental in people's decision to leave wts.

many left before the book was out, many left on their own without the book, most read it afterward and it was instrumental in their never going back.

a bunch of people got their information about wts from the internet.

We left before the Web really got going strong, but it would have made that road much more easy to endure for us.

6 weeks on the Forum and I've learned more about the true nature of the JW's than when I was aboard their ship for 26 plus years.

And as crazy as some of the ideas posted seem to be. Almost all have been found true and substantiated with the help of the Web.

I think you should call ones out who become disrespectful and insensitive to others, and commend you for this.

I also feel AE is the perfect example of an unreasonable JW. Many who are lurking are watching to see how we treat and respond to her allegations.

We respond for them as well as AE, and as an example, what you just said.

AE thinks she is helping her cause, but just the opposite is happening. Solid responses to her twisted logic are helping many to see clearly how perhaps they were or are like AE, and need to change.

We need more AE's honestly on this Forum. They are really helping people to change, and in a good way.

Ex-Elders Outnumber Elders In My KH; what does that suggest to you?

The WTS uses and abuses those who reach out and work for free.

From my own experience. The very moment you are appointed you are now being critically reviewed and judged by others. "How is he an Elder?! Don't they know the truth about him?" And that was from other Elders.

The 'truth' was enjoyable until I was appointed, then it became discouraging, if not oppressive.

The body of Elders, you would think, should be the best the WTS has to offer. But what you see behind closed doors, what the avg. JW doesn't see, is apalling. The back biting, un-Christ-like love, and lies that goes on is the norm, not the unusual.

Not only were you judged but your family comes into an extraordinary amount of judgement. Its very hard to watch you wife cry because of the cruel treatment by the so-called good ones in the JW congregation. Its not hard to see why so many will not reach out for such priviledges on JG's organization of lack of love.
