  based on this video shot from seattle, i think this 17-year african american teenage girl acted beyond normal expectation.

  she is seen threatening or attempting to hit a law enforcement officer who was doing his duty.

  the officer had to hit her face.

  my best memories of them were when they used to turn the lights out in the convention center - cause that meant i could sleep!!!

  The historical fabrications and inaccuracies that have shown up in some dramas the last few years just drive me nuts. The projection of 21st century situations on to the 1st or even earlier centuries to try to make some point reaches the point of being ludicrous.

  a "spiritual leader" tells his followers the must put on rebok running shoes and "drink the cool-aid" to join a ufo in the tail of a comet and "go to a better world" so, afew dozen young people do just that to get "beamed up" to the mothership.

  heavens gate cult 1990's.. my mother says "she is faithful to the organisation till her death" which makes me wonder if they ordered a mass suicide like the reverend jim jones did to escape a "great tribulation"....how many witnesses would really drink the cool-aid?...

  I've read quite a lot about Jones and Jamestown and my conclusion is that there really aren't many similarities between the People's Temple and the Wt Organization. The level of physical, emotional and sexual abuse was much higher with Jones and people were conditioned to a level of unthinking obedience that is not equaled in the Organization. I think a handful would be prepared to drink but the vast majority would not. It's like when they said homosexuality did not break the marriage bond. Witnesses were outraged and pretty vocal about it and as a consequence the Organization backed off.

  Is God Punishing the Tea Party?

  i've noticed that when something bad happens, the religious right tends to have a knee jerk reaction of saying that god is punishing a certain group because that group did something that god doesn't like.. .

  on april 15th (tax day), all of the tea party people got together and had rallies in a lot of the major cities.. on april 17th & 18th, the days that the nascar was supposed to happen, it rained... and rained... and rained... and the races had to be canceled.. .

  now, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to conclude that a disproportionately large number of nascar fans are affiliated with the tea party movement.

  if you bought into the lie that "millions now living will never die," has the.

  realization that you will very likely reach retirement age, settled in your mind just yet?.

  for instance, i never looked to see if there was a 401k plan when i was in the jw cult.

  I know lots of Witnesses that have made provisions for retirement. I'd say it's a minority that doesn't. I've heard very few that were actually condemnatory of those that did and typically they have fallen into "pretty ignorant generally" category.

  Personally I have been in the save and invest mode since I started working.

  the talk outlines for the summers conventions are only being printed over the next 2 weeks or so.. the finished outlines were ready in the middle of december 2009, however sources that i trust tell me that at least 5 of the talks were returned for last minute rewriting which is highly unusual.

  this has held up the printing until now, a delay of over a month.

  this is a fact!!.

  The reality is that fewer and fewer people pay much attention to the things that they are not presupposed to do anyway. It must be extremely frustrating to the organization to realize that the majorit of Witnesses simply ignore it when they try to crack down on this stuff, maybe a little lip service but that's about it. They've railed against the Net for years, that's worked out real well for them hasn't it.

  So you have a guy that has a history of very controversial findings, some of which have been blatantly racist, he uses a pretty funky definition for liberal and conservative, his data is based on a strange age group, and he looks at this through the lense of evolutionary psychology. I'd say this has all the credibility of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Of course the gullible will lap it up and quote it religiously. The real revelation is in who is prepared to swallow this tripe.
