"Gary-isms"
by garyneal inthis is a new buzzword that my wife invented to label my way of thinking.
apparently, she is not very happy with my critically examining watchtower teachings and calling out any inconsistencies that i see.
here are some examples of "gary-ism:".

A few questions concerning Jehovah's Witnesses doctrines
by garyneal infor those familiar with my postings already know, i am a christian who is married to an active jehovah's witness (though not yet baptized).
we discuss issues concerning the witnesses and their doctrines and have had "bible studies" with one of the elders.
i've asked her about some of these things and i would like to share her responses and see if it lines up with watchtower teachings.. can a police officer become a jehovah's witness?.

Learn From A Great Teacher (repost)
by garyneal insorry for repeating myself but it appears that i placed this topic in the wrong category.
since i cannot seem to edit it or change it's category, i figured i'd repost it here where it may be more appropriate.. the watchtower publishes a book for parents to read to their children called "learn from a great teacher.
" my wife has had copies of this book for years and has read them to my little girl in the past.

Our Bible Study with the Jehovahs Witnesses (Part 2)
by garyneal inwell, my wife and i returned to the jw elders house for another bible study continuing the series in marriage.
that study went pretty well, poking fun at each other concerning our marital issues and all.
nothing in that particular study would seem to be bad or anything for after all, one cannot argue against the virtues of being faithful to your spouse and the marriage arrangement (at least for christians that is).

Jehovah's Witnesses participating in sports?
by garyneal ini understand one of their numerous "thou shalt nots" concerns children participating in sporting activities.
my daughter is on the soccer team and my wife (an unbaptized jw with a 'goal' of becoming baptized) was the one who signed her up.
during the first season, my wife kept telling me that she felt torn because she wanted our daughter to participate in sports but she knew she was 'going against god.'.

Blood Doctrine Debate
by garyneal inas has been the case over the summer, my wife and i have been going to two different churches every sunday.
generally, before church service we speak of religion and the various differences and, of course, why she believes hers is right.
this time, we spoke briefly about holidays first.

Our "Bible Study" with the Jehovah's Witnesses
by garyneal inmy wife and i had a "bible study" with an elder and his wife yesterday (9-11-09) and the topic was marraige.
the book we covered was "keeping yourself in god's love.
" this particular "bible study" was based primarily on the topic we covered in the book and, of course, there was a lot of "hop scotching" of the bible.

To understand the Bible, must we "Read between the lines?"
by garyneal inthis post goes out to any active jehovah's witnesses who are either actively engaged in or simply lurking the topics on this web site.
my wife is a jehovah's witness who is currently an unbaptized publisher hoping (as she stated as her goal) to become baptized.
needless to say, i am not and we go to different churches (hers is the kingdom hall and mine is a small community church).. anyway, this past sunday (september 7, 2009) one of the brothers gave a talk about how some people pick a church based on the fact that it seems to "feel good to them" rather than base it on whether or not they truly teach the bible.
