Don't know if this one was mentioned but I loved "The World's Fastest Indian" starring Anthony Hopkins.
Great movie! According to the SCTA web site, Burt's 1967 record still stands.
what's a really good movie you'd recommend that most people probably haven't seen?.
my personal recommendation: synecdoche, new york.
it's one of those movies that words fail utterly to capture--which really is the hallmark of a good movie, i suppose.

i decided to update my resume and realized that i have to take out a couple of things.
my pioneer school under education and bible instructor under volunteer experience.
i can't believe i actually put those on there and got hired.
My pioneer school under education
It may be an asset, if you're looking for a job in sales! It shows you're a person who can take a rejection, turn right around, and make the same pitch to the next prospect.
om,
Having Roebling's marvelous bridge in the left side of the picture makes up for the tacky urban blight on the right!
some of you may have read my jw ex-wife's e-mail to my son last night after i posted it.
this is my son's e-mail response to his mothers initial e-mail.
i think i'll just let this speak for itself.

I don't see any love from their Mom for who they are, it's all what they do for the WTBTS that she approves of..
Unconditional love is when, despite all they do for the WTBS that you disapprove of, you love them anyway. This is the relationship you're describing with your daughters. Good for you, and also for your son!
i went to the sunday circuit assembly and came back all riled up with all the nonsense.. the sunday program was on ''safeguarding your spirituality''.
''it is better to remain single and not marry.
that gives you more time for studying and the preaching work.
If all these JW kids are so hell-bent on pioneering and avoiding college as if it were a giant leper colony....why the flurck would you take the ACT (or SAT or any other test exclusively designed for determining ability to do well in college, and good for absolutely nothing else)?
In some schools and districts, it's required. All juniors take PSAT, all seniors take SAT/ACT. The school's composite SAT/ACT score is part of its evaluation for the state Board of Education.
my husband and i have been fading for sometime.
we did attend the memorial this year with his parents.
we have had quite a few heart to heart conversations about us leaving the witnesses slowly.
If he's amenable to it, invite him to read an article here with you, and then collaborate with you on a reply. Let him see there's nothing to fear, if he's willing to take a look. But don't push if he's unwilling, wait until he's ready.
today i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.
prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.
he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.
jws that sing off key at the top of the lungs and are standing right behind you
Blondie, if only the JWs had a monopoly on that! Show me a church where nobody sings off-key, and I'll show you a church where the congregation doesn't sing. I'd rather stand up and listen to off-key singing than sit still and listen the whole time while trying to stay awake. "Make a joyful noise" [Psalm 95], and be happy that you're alive and have ears that can hear it!
the reality is: jehovah's witnesses benefit no one but themselves!.
they don't contribute to society.
they refuse to get involved in local interests because that would constitute violating their neutrality.. if sexual abuse allegations are made amongst their members, unless two witnesses can attest to the molestation, they refuse to get the "superior authorities" involved.. they claim to be doing their neighbors a "life saving" work but the reality is that they simply are pests to their "householders".. they are a tax free "religion" and they do not pay taxes.. they are judgmental people and regard the "world" as "worldly" and in the "power of the wicked one".. and if the individual members do not conform to the organization's dictates, they might very well be "shunned" and regarded as "dead".. why anyone would want to be a jehovah's witness is beyond me..
I have seen charitable JWs, acting on their own initiative to help many causes: Habitat for Humanity, therapy for the disabled, the local Children's Home (for troubled teens), etc. My Ex is one of those Witnesses, and I'm proud of her for that.
What I have not seen is any significant charity organized or encouraged by the WT organization, benefitting anybody other than JWs and "studies". That is a huge contrast to most other churches in this area: one of the first things you get upon joining them is a list of organizations that need volunteers, everywhere from the homeless shelter to Salvation Army bell-ringers.
Consider Matt 25:34-40: the local synagogue does more of the Lord's work that the Kingdom Hall.
no, not the movie.
but my daughters final prom as a high school senior.
although to a jw parent, the real thing could be just a scary as the horror flick.
Three times, my daughter told me to "chill out dad, every thing is cool" lol
That's what I mean by "discrete": don't embarass the kids too much with the parent role! I'm glad everybody's safely home and had a good time, including yourself.
Grace, I'm sorry your new place isn't what you were hoping for. I hope you can find a better situation, or at least get on the warden's good side. Do stop by often to check up on us, you know how we kids are always getting into mischief!
