I carry my donor ID card from the blood bank. It saves a lot of paperwork every 8 weeks.

Did you carry any No Blood paraphernalia around?
by cult classic ini never really carried anything on me.
it was always fun getting the card signed and all (a welcome change of pace at the service meeting).
but i always thought it looked too weird to have that in my wallet.

I would like to thank my children......
by awildflower in......for being so obedient and cooperative during our lives as jw's.
for getting ready for all of those meetings and doing their best to study before hand and comment.
for volunteering to help the elderly and others with yard work and cooking and babysitting.

Wildflower, wow! I hope you have shown your children this letter, to show them how much they're loved and appreciated. You've raised them well, and have a right to be proud of that.

I had to hurt my kids this weekend... it sucks
by Aussie Oz ini have been in a world of pain this weekend.. some of you know the ongoing battle i have had with my ex wife, an uber dub hypocrite, over seeing my kids more.
3 weeks ago i managed to secure an agreement from her that provided my 13 yr old daughter friday night to sunday afternoons and for my 16 yr old son to have friday night to sat afternoon with the option to extend it to sunday if he so desires.
this is each second weekend.. first due weekend visit she rearranged the days so that she was technically pre agreement start date.

Well done, Aussie Oz! You did the right thing standing up for yourself against you ex's "passive-agressive" power play. The thing to be careful of is to never say anything negative about your ex in front of the children, no matter how much she deserves it. Not only will she and her lawyer try to hold that against you, but also teenagers, being teenagers, will figure out how to use that conflict to their advantage. You are the parent, and you can't let your kids try to control the situation by playing one parent off against the other.

As christian parents, we know too well that being insistent about "forbidden fruit" will often lead the young astray, following the prideful footsteps of Adam and Eve. Would not the better course be to lead them to the uplifting aspects of christian love, instead of dwelling on the dreary version seen in this sinful world?
(Yes, I'm still sarcastic after all these years!)

What's a really good movie you'd recommend that most people probably haven't seen?
by A.Fenderson inwhat's a really good movie you'd recommend that most people probably haven't seen?.
my personal recommendation: synecdoche, new york.
it's one of those movies that words fail utterly to capture--which really is the hallmark of a good movie, i suppose.

Don't know if this one was mentioned but I loved "The World's Fastest Indian" starring Anthony Hopkins.
Great movie! According to the SCTA web site, Burt's 1967 record still stands.

It may be an asset, if you're looking for a job in sales! It shows you're a person who can take a rejection, turn right around, and make the same pitch to the next prospect.
