i remember when i first started questioning the wts/jws.
there were so many scandals and teachings and history to explore and research.
i needed to learn everything i could about every little inconsistency, every mistake, every scandal in order to convince myself that i was on the correct path to freedom from this false religion.

This issue was the deciding factor as why i didn't go to college when i graduated from high school in the early 90's. The end was super close because the "generation of 1914" was shrinking, it couldn't go on for much longer. Then when new light about the generation hit in 1995, i was lost and confused. Although i didn't walk away, my serve-us slowed down and my faith in anything said by the WT was shaken.

both parents are jw, they did the pioneer serve where the need is great thing.

here and in other websites (such as jwfacts) i learned that the wt frowns on higher education but is also aware that it needs trained staff.
i also learned that at some point they weren't as tight on learning more skills because they found that the rank and file witness had trouble finding a job that would let him do for a more decent living.
well, i wonder what happens in poorer countries, where salaries are much lower, jobs much more scarce, and where an university degree is still a huge advantage but no guarantee of anything.
As long as the WT is able to acquire land and build KH's, i don't see their coffers getting any smaller. It seems that they rely heavily on their real estate holdings to finance their worldwide work.
I live in a major US city with many persons from different countries and cultures, the congregations are a reflection of this. Many came to this country degreed and often seek more training and/or an advanced degree. The value they place on education overides anything the WT has said to discourage it. They see it as necessary to survival.
But as often is the case with many religions, the poor are more susceptible to giving their last dime as a show of thanks to whatever they worship. Poor dubs are no exception and the WT gladly takes handouts uncaring as the the financial standing of the one contributing it.

Obit-trolling is very popular with the dubs in my area. They hit up online obits, print obits and ride around to funeral homes in territory looking for 'lost' souls.
then 1 thessalonians 5 read about 'peace and security'.
the speakers instructed not to embellish the statements.. 'noble sentiments' was mentioned about the un charter but no criticism.. followed by the need for god's kingdom.. it sounded more like an advert for the un to me.
did anyone else hear it?
The UN preamble was not read today at my dubs SP. Maybe this speaker was showing off his research skills or he's of the conscience class.

In my circuit, it seemed like those who converted studies to dubs had parts on the DC and CA programs. Also, those who had consistent results often accompany pubs on their studies with "students" who were not progressing.

Wow, I'm stunned. He served my circuit in the early 80's. He was really cool and down to earth, loved by all. I'm happy he escaped.
i was hungry for the story behind the scriptures and thought i was getting it by reading them.
i think it was beneficial but once i got to chronology i started to throw up in my mouth.

I don't remember being told directly from the platform or in the literature not to use Aid book but you are always encouraged to keep up with nulite by reading the current publications.
the reality is: jehovah's witnesses benefit no one but themselves!.
they don't contribute to society.
they refuse to get involved in local interests because that would constitute violating their neutrality.. if sexual abuse allegations are made amongst their members, unless two witnesses can attest to the molestation, they refuse to get the "superior authorities" involved.. they claim to be doing their neighbors a "life saving" work but the reality is that they simply are pests to their "householders".. they are a tax free "religion" and they do not pay taxes.. they are judgmental people and regard the "world" as "worldly" and in the "power of the wicked one".. and if the individual members do not conform to the organization's dictates, they might very well be "shunned" and regarded as "dead".. why anyone would want to be a jehovah's witness is beyond me..
They don't provide charitable assistance toward their own members in need unless it will benefit the Org directly i.e natural disasters.
They cast out longtime full time members from their headquarters after they used them up without pension or medical benefits.
