  maybe the effect of this change is bigger than realized?

  in 1995, it was discussed (positively) by everybody, during the week we studied the wt.

  one elder stepped down and was looked down upon.

  okay so i just cant read any of dj's really long-winded posts ... just cant do it

  so perhaps this has been answered, but i'd REALLY like an answer to this:

  if dj is such a good witness, why is his name: djeggnog? eggnog is a drink associated with christmas ... so would a good witness have an avatar name associated with CHRISTMAS?

  i just cant read his posts because his name is djchristmas ..

  why doesn't the nt have anything about jesus on record prior to his baptism?

  after all, he was a perfect boy.

  you would think that little jesus would've been talked about by everyone in the town,.

  it was dreadful, completely and utterly dreadful. what is worse is that the "rules" force people to marry incompatible people, largely due to dating-inexperience. perhaps if dating was more liberal, there wouldnt be so many JW train-wreck marriages. but alas, it isnt to be. im sure that the Gibbering Buddy wants to put back arranged marriages at some point

  Favorite Demon Stories

  one of the most fascinating aspects of the jw religion is the profound fear of demons (evil spirits) it engenders in its members.

  i just wondered whether it's something that is used by the leadership as a means of control, or whether it's simply a concept that grew legs and took off on its own?

  first, i believe in evil spirits.

  conundrum for the writing department

  in the latest awake magazine in an article "are science and the bible compatible?

  " three men of science are referred to and quoted, henry schaefer, professor of chemistry, austrian physicist and nobel laureate erwin schrodinger and john lennox, professor of mathematics at the university of oxford, england.

  if you do a google search of these names you will be see that all three have years and years of worldly education to their credit (which is contrary to all things watchtower).

  Why Are They Called "Pioneers"?

  does anyone know how the wts came up with the term "pioneer" and the related "auxiliary" and "special" pioneer terms?.

  it's not in the bible and it seems to come from us expansionist history....

  they are called pioneers .. because their lifestyle, customs and thinking come from pioneer days .. a la 1800s

  they use the term 'auxiliary' because their primary brains have to be shut down for teh aux to kick in ..

  KM Jan 2011 Family Worship

  there is a big insert in the jan kingdom ministry about the family worship night (which has evolved new capital letters - like governing body.).

  some helpful suggestions include the head of the household putting an agenda on the fridge door a few days ahead for the family to "build excitement and anticipation" (i kid you not.

  ) the provision is compared to the sabbath arrangement as a gift from god.

  hmm perhaps if they didnt encourage their members to drop out of school to piosneer instead of getting an education, maybe more would actually know how to teach, let alone read ...

  Encounter with JW's: Round three...

  a few days ago my door bell rang.

  when i answered it there were two sruffy looking men there both of them in their 60's/70's i would say.. one of them with a huge belly said to me " hello, we are going around the community today gadging peoples views from all nationalites, because we feel thats very important to do in this area as we have cypriot, russian and british like yourself...".

  i interupted there and said " sorry, who are you?".
