Monsters
by Chariklo inthe monsters in the thread title are not monsters of the mind or of nighmare, but just the friendly (or otherwise) little alien creatures depicting our forum selves.. it's illogical, but often i find myself feeling that these weird and wonderful creatures take on the personality of the poster.
phizzy's seems to me to be perfect for someone phizzy.
cantleave's suits him very well.

What made you leave?
by CuriousUK inapologies if this has been discussed before, but i am really very interested in finding out why members here left their congregations for lives away from jw?.
was there a "lightbulb" moment where you just woke up one day and realised that you had been brainwashed?
or a slow realisation over time?

hi curious. it wasnt a single moment for me. it was a series of events. i was practically raised in, and after getting to adulthood (and experiencing a terrible marriage to a violent disturbed witness), and subsequently seeing how ineffective and pathetic the leadership in the hall was, i withdrew and faded. i separated (and later divorced), but several years went by. i had as little contact with the witlesses as possible. it wasnt until i went to college and to therapy that i realised that i had been in a cult.
it has been a delightful journey ever since too :)

In love with a JW...
by CuriousUK inapologies if this has been discussed before, or is in the wrong forum, but i could really do with some advice.
two years ago i met the love of my life; someone i regard as my soulmate.
he is an active jw and i am a practising church of england person.

he is the classic example of living a double life. if he does that now, how do you think he will act after you are married?

The Internet is a technology that Jehovah’s organization is using to good advantage to spread the
good news to all corners of the earth. Consider the impact our Web sites are having. On a typical day,
400,000 people, both Witnesses and non-Witnesses, visit watchtower.org, jw.org, or jw-media.org.
LOL 400,000 people visit a day and that constitutes "using (the internet) to good advantage"?
i love how they make it sound like its 400,000 DIFFERENT people each day, when in reality its probably Outlaw trying to hit them with a DDoS ...

Do COs have a cushy life?
by A question indo cos (and dos) have a cushy life in comparison with other jws, or others in fulltime service?.
it could be said that they do, since they have an apartment provided for them, meals out, green handshakes, and invites to social gatherings.
it could also be said that they do not, since they may have to live in a different house every week, accept whatever food they're given, and they have a lot more meetings than the average jw.. .
