You ask the questions.
They provide satisfying answers.
Not the other way around.
(Some of my favourite questions: "what is the Good News according to Paul?" or "Is legalism apostasy").
at the meeting last night i was approached by an elder and he asked me what my schedule was like for the next week or so.
i told him im not sure ill have to tet back with him and i asked why and he said kindly but in an odd sort of way "for a visit".
my wife and i have not gone out in field service and have been missing meeting left and right mostly due to sickness and family.

i am just wondering about all of you who have been on this site for long.
in all of the events that have happened since 2000 (for example, september 11th), have you at any point, even you die-hard apostates, felt like "oooh sh!t... i should go back to the kh"... just to have the world survive the latest disaster?.
what was the worst event for you, in terms of saying... "did i mess up???
"Amen" Wasanelder Once.
Uncovering darkness masquerading as light takes time and effort.
In time one "sees" the full extent of the cult leaders' spiritual confusion, drunkenness, and insanity.
Then there simply is no desire to go back to following these self-congratulatory fools ever.
so, i eventually decided that this place wasn't the apostate hot bed i was led to believe ;-), (or maybe i am now an apostate!
but i don't feel like one.)..
i was brought up in "the truth".. i loved it.
Welcome SuperBoy.
Good on you for not being bitter about your time in the cult, and the challenges you faced.
I pray that in time you will once again find someone to share your life with.
i've been in need of a new laptop for a long time.
no, i mean it - a really long time.
the old dell that we have has a floppy lid and is woefully underpowered although it does build up my upper body strength every time i pick it up.. the last 6 months has been a bad time to buy something new though with the haswell processors on the horizon promising better battery life and also screen technology seems to have been leaping ahead recently to a new hi-dpi standard.. so apple finally released their mac book pro and at the same time dell has released an xps 15 ultrabook which looks like a pretty good alternative and probably better 'value'.. pro's and con's?
Not having your tech smarts, stamina or patience Simon, I'm "forced" to avoid buying newly released gear, until most of the bugs have been sorted.
Thanks for the details.
I'm contemplating a pathway to quitting my Microsoft (bloatware) addiction, frustration and timewasting.
several footnotes in the nwt correctly define apostasy as "unfaithfulness".. that is spiritual unfaithfulness/adultery/fornication/prostitution/harlotry.. in scripture the jews were called (spiritual) prostitutes (37 times in ezekiel chapters 16 and 23).. they claimed a relationship with the god of abraham.. yet they lusted after other gods.. and they had frequent wanton spiritual intercourse with these gods.. to cover-up their own lewd apostasy the watctower lyingly redefines the word to mean a dissenter (against the watchtower).. anyone who dissents is labelled an apostate.. ray franz discovered their apostasy.. he dissented.. he exposed their spiritual harlotry in detail (isocf and coc).. they lyingly labelled him an apostate.. and many if not most exjws say this is all fine.. even worse, many exjws proudly wear the label.. to show their proud support of watchtower lies and cover-ups.. how sad....
Several footnotes in the NWT correctly define apostasy as "unfaithfulness".
That is spiritual unfaithfulness/adultery/fornication/prostitution/harlotry.
In scripture the Jews were called (spiritual) prostitutes (37 times in Ezekiel chapters 16 and 23).
They claimed a relationship with the God of Abraham.
Yet they lusted after other gods.
And they had frequent wanton spiritual intercourse with these gods.
To cover-up their own lewd apostasy the Watctower lyingly redefines the word to mean a dissenter (against the Watchtower).
Anyone who dissents is labelled an apostate.
Ray Franz discovered their apostasy.
He dissented.
He exposed their spiritual harlotry in detail (ISoCF and CoC).
They lyingly labelled him an apostate.
And many if not most exJWs say this is all fine.
Even worse, many exJWs proudly wear the label.
To show their proud support of Watchtower lies and cover-ups.
How sad...
i'm reading through the watchtower rule book right now and i came to the chapter clarification and guidelines on handling certain matters.
there is a part about scriptural divorce and even if adultery is not proved if your ex stayed all night or is involved in an immoral sleeping arrangement you can get scriptural grounds to remarry.. .
they make a rule, then they have to make a rule for the rule, make another rule for the rule for the rule.
As Ray Franz observed, apostate legalism leads to a "morass of inconsistencies".
at the meetings i hear from time to time that everlasting life is a free gift from jehovah, but from a jehovahs witness point of view is it really?.
you will not receive the "gift" if:.
you miss meetings.
And there is the reason the Watchtower fears and hates nothing more than the "Good News" they falsely claim to teach - it renders them redundant at best and apostate at worst.
i think the wt doesn't even know what it means.
i know i can't figure it out.. .
?
As usual the Watchtower hates the truth which once again exposes and accuses them.
Materialism is walking by flesh, by sight, and by letter, instead of by spirit.
By this definition the Watchtower is one of the most materialistic religious organisations around.
i have a close family member who is a pro in using shame to try to make me feel bad.
they are coming to stay at my place soon and the issue of me and mrs hoser not attending/ doing field service will come up no doubt.. i need some advice on how to deal with this because whenever i deal with these relatives they make me feel worthless.
it is probably part because they are jw's and jw's motivate by fear and guilt.. .
Clearly explaining the rules and getting their commitment to abide by the rules and penalties is probably the simplest way to go. Send them packing instantly if they give trouble at the outset.
Alternatively or additionally maybe...
Dear toxic family member:
"I have a simple question for you. Until you are able to answer this question to my satisfaction I will have to consider you spiritually weak and a risk to my spiritual health.
Is 'legalism' apostasy?"
(Or: "Is it honest to call yourself a 'publisher of the good news' if you are unfamiliar with the 'Good News' according to Paul, Moses, Isaiah and Psalms?")
the truth about messiah and what he acheived in the 1st century is something millions of believers in christ refuse to accept namely the historical record of things all fulfilled in that momentous 1st century.it is rejected because the -isms, man made doctrines, theologies, false teachings etc etc that abound since then and so millions have allowed themselves to be brainwashed, conditioned into.
the reality is so simple if one lets messiah remain with his intent and meaning.
but if we change his own words, we become divided.
Well written maccauk11.
