It seems to boil down to a mutually exclusive choice between "unity in doctrine" versus "unity in Christ".
The former always seems to end up being exclusive, supremacist and divisive (sectarian), whereas the latter is inclusive and unifying.
i've read the walsh trial that indicates the societies stance of ' unity at all costs, even if we're wrong ' but that sounds more like conformity to me.
so how do other religions or movements justify the range of beliefs within their respective movements?
for example, the born again movement, a massive range of beliefs, but they don't insist on conformity.

i'm writing my first post here :) long story short, i feel like i'm making a somehow huge effort to be a jw so i started to wish to take a break from the usual jw activities.
here i am making one step further, i guess .. so, what could be , let's say, the strongest reason for you not to date a girl that isn't a jw?
aand eventually going to the next base.
Welcome gab_gab!
There are many good reasons we folk here can give "NOT to date a girl that isn't is a JW".
imagine you just paid your rent.. you have a whole month until you have to pay again.
you go to bed secure in that knowledge.. when you wake up the next morning you discover 11 days have been removed from the calendar and your rent will be due again only 20 days!.
so easter could be celebrated "correctly.".
So does that mean that an extra day in February every leap year is Gregorian?
And do I remember correctly that there is also a further adjustment every 100 years?
A February with 30 days?
So how many days in a (Gregorian) year on average (probably not 365.25)?
be sure to read timelines 1 & 2 which include some interesting documents.
jason doesn't seem to realize that the course he has chosen has placed him completely at odds with the wts.
as much as he hates to admit it, he has become the thing he despises most...an apostate.
Jason will in time realise that what Jesus said really is true: by their fruits you will get to know they are not who they claim to be.
i was listening to a conversation of jws recently about how trusting they are with each other and how out in "the world" you have to be ever so careful that you don't put down your purse or wallet for a minute otherwise it will be stolen.. i entered the conversation with an experience that one of my close friends had.
(true story) he was in a public place with a wallet with significant amount of cash and bank card, credit card, id, etc.. somehow he lost or misplaced the wallet, panicked of course.
he went to the police, cancelled all his cards and thought it was gone for sure.
No one has treated me and my family worse than several JWs in "good standing".
The most evil people I've ever met are in "the organisation".
Details?
Unmentionable.
Except maybe as a shortened list:
fraud, incestuous rape, slander...

Probably a good idea to download the original videos, while they're still available, just in case you need them one day.
Maybe show the video to the next JW who comes knocking and ask for an ASL transcript, plus an explanation.

the recent letter being us to come to detroit shows that jws are beginning not to take the gb seriously anymore.
the buzz following the meeting was that the letter was unprecedented in its tone.
this coming from long time jws of 30 years plus.
(2 Timothy 3:9) . . .Nevertheless, [the GB] will make no further progress, for their madness will be very plain to all. . .
Could someone please write the GB advising them of their followers' apathy and indifference toward them.
GB, ramp it up already...
my heart is heavy as i write this letter.
i have been trying to live my life as best that i can since leaving jehovah's witnesses.
my dad was not a witness and was my rock when i left the religion.
The Searcher's advice seems spot on to me...
i remember reading a thread when my exit was starting, about inspirational songs.
someone posted a link to the "shins" for a fool.
this was a surprising help to me.
