Can you help with a definition for Evolution?
by Fernando ini'm trying to pin down a definition for evolution, hopefully in plain english, and some questions have come to mind:.
is this a fool's errand?.
has evolution itself evolved?.

The Art of Hypocrisy - How Jehovah's Witnesses worship a symbol
by BluePill2 init has been a while since i've seen a witness, either in person or virtually.
searching for someone on facebook took me to the profile of a ministerial servant that i know.
i scrolled through his wall to see who is still around and found this gem:.

The Art of Propaganda, at which the WBTS excels, comes to mind for me:
*** w56 6/15 p. 360 Getting and Giving the Thoughts of God ***
We usually believe what we want to believe, and one thing we like to believe is that we do our own thinking. Hence it is not too hard for clever propagandists to make us think their thoughts are ours. They plant the thought and nourish it, but do it so subtly that we think it is our own. -

Leaving the JWs, experiencing Christianity and finding freedom! (But it took awhile)
by im_free inthis is my first post here.. i was raised in "the truth", and am an ex-bethelite who worked in brooklyn for several years back in the 90's.
a few years after i left bethel, i started to become disillusioned after doing research about the society and reading crisis of conscience (i know..i wasn't supposed to do that lol).
i eventually stopped attending meetings and going out in service.

Welcome im_free!
My wife and I have come to exactly the same conclusions from "independently" pursuing the unabridged gospel (especially according to Paul, and especially in Romans).
Greetings and blessings

Come on, it is so simple people - Russell used Imperial measurements, but what did the Egyptians use?
by berrygerry inokay, russell based his measurements of the pyramid chambers using inches to determine 1914.. however, what if we used egyptian measurements?.
duh!.

October 2nd, 2014: The World Ends Tomorrow, Taking all Bets!
by Oubliette inon october 2, 1914, charles taze russell, founder of the watchtower, announced that the gentile times have ended!.
tomorrow will be exactly 100 years since his historic announcment.. to commemorate this centennial occasion, i will gladly take bets in any amount of money that the world will not end tomorrow and that on friday, october 3rd, 2014 gmt, we will still all be here, for better or worse.. any die-hard jws interested in taking the other side of this friendly little wager?
still hoping the big "a" is coming tomorrow and your loving god, jehovah, is going to commit mass genocide and execute 99.9% of earth's population because they don't follow the dictates the 7 members of the "faithful and discreet slave," aka, the governing body of jehovah's witnesses?.

Jewish Exodus from Egypt - Documatary - 20 Jun 2013
by Da.Furious ini have received a link from a friend of mine, he is a baptist pastor.. link address is here.. the article title is: if you dont think the jewish exodus from egypt was real, then watch this video and think again.
the important or interesting thing in this youtube video is that it has some evidence, as the researcher claims, that the exodus happened and the red sea split into two in addition to evidence of egyptian army died at the location.. the documentary is 1 hour 24 minutes long.. .
apologies if this was posted previously but i ran a search and couldnt identify similar one.. as some of you know i am a born-in active jw with a mind of his own!.

Waking up your spouse
by All for show ini am aware this has to be done quite carefully, but how?
while many may complain and see the hypocrisy within the kh's, maybe even with the gb, how does one bring up doctrine issues?
i surely can not tell my husband to "go look what jwfacts.com says".

Fernando
Welcome, All for show, and a very smart move in not crossing that line.
Many here have observed that questions work best.
Simple.
Strategic.
Incremental.

What's "THE END" going to look like?
by Coded Logic inokay, so its no secret that many of us are hoping to see the downfall of the wtbts (or at least a mass exodous of jws away from them anyway).
i was wondering if you had any thoughts on what this might look like?.
we all know that most every jw has their doubts, large and small, but is afraid to speak due to the illusion of unanimity and self censorship .

"The Illusion of Unanimity and Self Censorship".
Interesting, and whilst I'm sure these play a role, I doubt I ever thought that everyone believed everything the GB said, except maybe in regard to their divine appointment over us dumb sheeple in 1919. How stupid we were...
