on the front page is the story of a serious car accident.
one person was killed he was a passenger in one of two cars that were racing; he got decapitated as a cable cut through the windshield of one of the cars.
Nothings sadder then a Df'd person who still belives in it!!!!
I agree completely with the above statement. These people act like zombies and go around like the walking-dead. The Watchtower retains a supernatural hold over them as they await punishment from Jehovah. They remain stalled, have low self-esteem, and suffer from depression. Until they realize the Tower is not God's mouthpiece, and is nothing more than another high-control sect, they remain in the class of "nothing sadder."
newbies and others are often saying, "move on", in other words, get a life, remove yourselves from the influence of wtism completely.
there are many good answers to this, but i think there is one answer, which has not been much considered.
the international 'apostate' world, to which we contribute, has mushroomed in the last 10 years in: numbers, public profile, influence on the wts policies (and in jws awareness), and in all areas of knowledge about the wt.

I used to post on the Jesus-Witnesses discussion group, and was invited by Alan to join in on a small group that became known as Philia. The group started out by adding email addresses to the cc column. I was on Philia when there were about a dozen or more members. Reading Alan's post was a walk down memory lane--thanks again!
in the crowded corridors at the district convention, there was a purse snatcher.
i was in the right place at the right time to catch it all.. this guy grabbed this sister's purse and made off with it.
she screamed and several brothers were in purseuit.

I always figured the Witnesses didn't pass the hat because you couldn't get it passed the contribution boxes, as this purse snatcher found out! It's a shame Witnesses can't drop something at an assembly without it landing in a contribution box.
i recently ordered another copy of "in search of christian freedom" as i got rid of my first one (long story) and since it had been a couple of years since i read it, i decided to get another one.. since i live in a fairly small town, i decided to give a fake name, in case someone worked at the book store that might be a jw.
it was saturday morning (a time when all good little jw's should be in field service) so i felt it safe to go pick up my book.

Life as a Jehovah's Witness is like living during the times of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. It's difficult believing in 2001 that adults need to hide books from slaves of a publishing firm that sells books! Indeed, Jehovah's Witnesses live in a strange world.

they propose that they will get the money - and "give it away to needy jws".

Special consideration should be given to applications of the surviving Jehovah's Witness victims of Nazi persecution. The Watch Tower would use a portion of the Settlement Fund to support its ongoing research and archival work on the Holocaust and presentations of its findings.
There is no limit to the lies the Watchtower will tell in defrauding others out of money! Perhaps the Tower will sue hospitals next for the countless dead JWs that were not allowed to accept blood transfusions. I'm sure more JWs died and continue dying from the Watchtower Holocaust than the Nazi Holocaust. Surely the Watchtower can make money on this by researching how much blood loss is required in order to die. They have a great control group for this study.
I'm certain the $$$Tower will use the loot for "research" if one considers research exploring additional ways of bilking money from future suckers. Asking how low will the Watchtower go, one needs to dig a hole to China in order to answer.

I guess it would be necessary to pull a "Clinton" on this one and ask for the definition of "near".
lol--good one! At least Clinton didn't try screwing our global environment; we can't say that about Bush. Of course the Tower has already defined what near is: "1874, 1914, 1918, 1919, Millions Now Living Will Never Die (1920), 1925, 1975, before end of 20th century".

Jan is quite right in citing Jim Penton's excellent summarizing what the charismatic Mac did as "Macchiavellian." He was the enforcer. Don't measure internal feelings by external actions. Happens all the time. The end justifies the means. (If you have not read Penton, you should.)
It's been a few years since reading Penton's work, so the information is a little foggy. I'll need to review it again to bring some points back into focus. From what I remember, Russell didn't want the mantle of leadership passed to Rutherford, and many (if not most) Bible Students were loyal to Russell. I assume MacMillan felt the same way, yet he was a great force in maneuvering the mantle of leadership against the wishes of the Elijah-like Russell. I wonder why MacMillan helped sabotage the Elijah-like mantel of leadership that rested with Russell by redirecting its intended shoulders (which was not Rutherford)? If MacMillan really believed God was backing this Elijah-like mantel through Russell, why did he sabotaged the process Russell had in place after he died. Wouldn't MacMillan think he was going against the arrangement God had in place?
Guess I better take another look at Penton's work.
