  I think you could easily say in the talk, "there are apostate spies among us at this very meeting." That statement will grab their attention, make them all say "nooo" under their breath and keep them from falling asleep at the boring ass service meeting.

  
  
  Dave ? This is rich, the make-believe cult could have a Reality Show. I know the idea of the WT and reality is an oxymoron, but that?s never stopped the Tower and the Fox Network from cashing in on the green stuff, and recruiting the brain dead.
  
  Years in the Tower has an unsettling effect on the bowls, but I think you?ve hit on something that could bring the 1975 slackers backto the Kingdom Halls. The Kingdom Reality Show is just the ticket to warm the bookbags of every elder, while the rank-n-file screams ?Holy Brooklyn, give us more!?

  8 all these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.

  9 ?then people will deliver you up to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name.

  Hondo -- I wonder why an all knowing God would tell His creation to "be on the alert" and then tell them it's useless because "you do not know"? It's about like GM making a car with breaks, but saying "you'll never be able to figure out how to use them, so be on the alert.!"

  I was leaning on a door once and the person opened it and I fell flat on the floor.

  lol !

  I was at a door with another JW one summer, and a young woman answered in a very skimpy swim suit. The young Witness that was with me started to stutter while backing up at the same time. Yep, he fell right off the pourch! He didn't lie on the door, but he lie on the ground.

  New qualifications to become a publisher?

  ive heard that the new om book now includes 10 questions which a study must answer correctly before becoming a publisher.

  does anybody know these questions and would be able to post them on here?

  at the risk of soundy mushy, i would just like to thank everyone for being a part of this board and making it what it is.

  in the 14 years since i have been out of the b'org, i have pretty much had to deal with building myself back up by myself.

  in the short time that i have been a part of jwd, i have realized that there was a lot of things that i had just repressed and locked away.

  It?s difficult adding to the neat expressions already posted. I?ve been out for about 20 years, and my interest in JW topics comes and goes. However, this forum has consistently been a top-drawer group of folks interested in helping others and thereby helping ourselves.

  I too believe a positive attitude and self-esteem is priceless, and helps a person in many ways.
  
  Something else that can influence our attitude is the theory of Self-Fulfilling Prophecy, that's been around for years. To a large extent we see ourselves from the feedback we receive from others. I believe most of us experienced the effects of this to one degree or another as Witnesses. High-control religious groups have a way of breaking the spirit and ones positive attitude.
  
  It's little wonder that as former Witnesses we find ourselves reclaiming the stuff we lost--self-esteem and positive attitudes, are two examples.

  Does anyone feel that their abilty 2 make money has been influenced by WT?

  we were told so many times that we were slaves 2 not only god but anyone in a secular position of authority.

  so i feel that this only encouraged a subordinate and non confortational attitude with our employers.

  almost 2 the point that that even those of us who are self employed never get 2 develope the killer instinct that is needed 2 compete in the business world.

  I believe the biggest financial loss is for young Witnesses that left school to pioneer and take part-time jobs to support themselves. Had they, or any others that pioneered, gone to college and then into the work force, their financial situation would definitely improve.
  
  Blondie?s points are well made, too. Many former JWs have put themselves back into the driver?s seat, and not looked back. That being said, even this group could have done that sooner if they had been in a normal religious or non-religious setting.

  DanTheMan ? We were both baptized at the same age, but 28 years apart. Your take on the 9/11 tragedy was most interesting, in that most JWs pointed to it as a sign of the Last Days, but it had the opposite effect on you.
