I don't like the new songs at all. They all sound the same. And the songs where the words changed are awkward to sing. I can't pretend like everyone else at the hall that I like the new song book. But, I've heard others express similiar sentiments.

by EndofMysteries init's very interesting comparing things that are removed.
for one, new world order and new world, new order, all being eliminated from everything.

Everything feels broken
by Sapphy inhi all - beware, long post comming up!.
i've always been a person who 'needed to know'.
as a born in i felt incredibly lucky that my parents and grandparents had found 'the truth' - no need to struggle to 'break free from babylon's bondage' for me!

Hi Sapphy, just so you know you're not alone in what you're going through. I am in the same situation as you. But, I know talking with a others on this board has helped me. And just having outside interests and friends gets you out of that I'm in a crisis mode. Sorry I can't offer any more on the matter, because I am in the same boat.

Divorced women in the WTS
by dgp ini am not a witness.
if i have understood correctly, in the wts, a single woman is at a disadvantage.
the wts is male-dominated and a woman can only go up through her father or husband.

Well, there is a possibility she enjoys being single and enjoys the freedom it brings. Or she is waiting to find her perfect match in the new system.

Bible student with 8 kids turns down marriage proposal?
by QuestioningEverything ina woman who is studying/attending the kh where my mom goes has 8 kids.
the oldest is 15y and the baby is only 7 weeks old.
after studying for some time, she decided it would be morally right for her and the kids father to get married.

Well, whoever is studying with her had no right to influence her one way or another. But, it sounds like they did.

"Fancy Dress" and large social gatherings are banned in our Halls! Why?
by Witness 007 inyes we hosted the ultimate "fancy dress" party.
some did come as cowboys with guns {cringe} pirates with swords {cringe} and a male servant/pioneer came as a female balerina {oh my god nearly got deleted!
} but what's the big deal!

Well, they are always worried somebody is going to commit fornication or some sort of loose conduct. Isn't it strange that even with the no more large gathering policy, people still manage to get d-fed for fornication. And sometimes, I think just to take any fun out of our life. I guess we are only supposed to have small gatherings where we study the Watchtower or sing Kingdom songs. Of course, once in awhile we can invite someone over to watch one of the Society's videos.

JW's and home schooling?
by semelcred ini don't wish to offend any that are teaching their kids at home, but today i was again confronted by a situation where a jw family were home schooling.
the kids had little structure to their routine and without putting the mum down, she was no teacher in an academic sense.. the subject is close to my heart because my parents who are witnesses, took my younger brothers out of school and home tutored them.
the were subjected to below standard education and limited in social skills, particularly as my parents are crap at these skills themselves.. i have grown to hate home schooling except in the situation of medical or logistical situations.. what are your comments good or bad and do you think the option to home school is abused by the witness community?.

Well, I see both sides of it. In my state, they have cyber school. A student works with an accredited school. They do independent study along with on-line classroom work. And get to work with certified teachers. It is not for everyone. And the student has to be motivated. I know a family in a neighboring congregation who have chosen cyber school and independent study for their children. And they are doing well both academically and socially. Actually, even the school district that they live in, admitted that the middle school environment is horrible. They may decide to attend high school. But, my point is, it depends on the parents and student. And I know many who took correspondance courses, and most didn't finish, but ended up just taking their GED.

Check with your local Better Business Bureau, I think that would be the most reliable source to go by. Of course, depending on what kind of business you're reviewing.

Freeminds life stories
by besty inthanks to many contributors over the years freeminds has best part of 100 life stories on the site.. http://www.freeminds.org/life-stories/index.php.
day in day out these stories are being read - in some cases they have many thousands of page views.
imagine how many people have been helped by reading real life stories written first hand?.

I know in my own situation that the life experiences were the first things I dared to read on ex-Witness websites. And one the reasons I started questioning everything.
