Last years convention and walking around during intermission feeling out of place and alone. It all seemed like one big infomercial. And I just kept thinking how long do I put my life on hold for something that may not even be true. And two weeks after that I started posting on this board.

Quality Men who Don't Smoke and Don't Get Drunk...
by White Dove inwhy's it so hard to find them?
it seems like everyone i see around me smokes: my apartments, every job i've ever had, people on the streets.
finding a quality guy that smells good and has a functioning brain not strung out on drugs or alcohol every week is hard to find..

Well, maybe if you meet a nice, quality guy who smokes, you can help him quit. It's tough out there. Sometimes you have to work with what you got, that's what I'm learning.

2010 Circuit Assembly..........Sunday Program nonsense and madness.
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini went to the sunday circuit assembly and came back all riled up with all the nonsense.. the sunday program was on ''safeguarding your spirituality''.
''it is better to remain single and not marry.
that gives you more time for studying and the preaching work.

Sorry, I meant they are taking care of their education, not generation. I must have "generation" on my mind. Wonder why?

Yes, I was at that part of the Assembly too. But, the good news is that a lot more Witness young people are attending college, but they pioneer at the same time. But, at least they are taking care of their generation.
I also heard an experience from a married couple who had a construction business and had at least 15 people working for them. But, they downsized their business so they could apply to go into the international building work. I just felt bad for the workers they had let go, who depended on the job to support their families.

Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings
by LittleSister intoday i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.
prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.
he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

This thread is hilarious. I also hate the comments that turn into a five minute talks. But, it seemed at my hall(s) anyway, there is some nutty sister who has to eat in the bathroom/library because she is hypoglycemic. And there was always young boys too old to be going into the women's bathroom with their mothers.

Were you totally petrified to question the teaching of the dubs?
by MsDucky ini look back now and think what the hell was wrong with me?
it's just so crazy to be so blind.
everytime, i'd think that this or that wasn't quite right, i'd think i was committing blasphemy.. it's sad to know that's why many people are still stuck in that religion..

Well, most of the questions I had either couldn't be answered or the explanation just didn't make sense. I just assumed it was a weakness of mine for clearly not having a full understanding. But, the usual response was, "wait of Jehovah", and "the light will get brighter." I think it hit me more when I tried explaining my beliefs to others and it sounded shallow and like a fairy tale.

Submission and stupid rules
by Lady Lee inwhat a load of crap this stupid belief was.
i'll give you a couple of examples.
i was the sign language interpreter for our congregation and there was about 15-20 deaf who regularly showed up.

Yes, especially in my old congregation it was common for a young boy,if baptized, to lead the group for service if no other brothers were present.
He had to do the text and arrange the car groups. Some did this before they were even teenagers.

How about the only brother leading the group is a baptized ten-year old. Now, that's fun. All the experienced pioneer sisters have to follow his lead.
