  Immoral sleeping arrangement?

  i'm reading through the watchtower rule book right now and i came to the chapter clarification and guidelines on handling certain matters.

  there is a part about scriptural divorce and even if adultery is not proved if your ex stayed all night or is involved in an immoral sleeping arrangement you can get scriptural grounds to remarry.. .

  they make a rule, then they have to make a rule for the rule, make another rule for the rule for the rule.

  if two people want to get it on, they're going to....and sleeping is not necessarily involved. everyone knows that....it's just all crazy stuff.

  my awakening came around the time a really nasty pedophile case was going on in the cong i was in....i had been fading for years prior to that, but not realizing what or why.....but i started thinking about things, and then another situation occurred which made me start thinking that i was being a hypocrite hanging onto something i didn't believe in. But "truth" - years of conditioning to believe that you are part of a select group of blessed ones who know The Truth.....and realizing what a sham it all is - I was numbed.....and when finally I realized I was free - I literally felt a burden off me - I felt lighter and free............

  My latest university experience...

  this isn't a jw experience, but for those of you that have been following my life, i thought i'd have a drink and share this strange event in my post-jw life.. for you wonderful newbies, you can catch up on highlights of my story in the few threads i've started here.

  i'm finishing the junior year of my engineering degree and the classes are hard as hell.

  i used to be among the smartest students in the room until i hit the 300 level university courses.

  That is absolutely positively awesome BtheB!!! Testing is a funny thing - some very brilliant people test very poorly - nerves, brain blocks, whatever - and some so-so students test easily. Real-life is another thing - it is problem solving, and utilizing one's skills and talents. You are doing a fantastic job - and I understand the process totally. I went back to college a few years back and am now just 2 electives shy of my bachelor's and hope to go on to the master's. I was one of those brainy kids who wasn't allowed an education and floundered and fumed and resented it all for years...when I first started in on my degree program and met with success, I had to discipline my mind not to sabotage myself. The negativity and loss of self-esteem and self-confidence made it difficult to even accept that yes, I still am an "A" student - even if I am old now.

  You keep at it, and keep learning. I swear that my mother has dementia because she never read anything or stimulated her mind any further than what WT's and Awakes had to offer....and that is not much indeed. To learn and grow mentally is to be alive and stay alive!!

  Elder and MS Extortion!

  the elders and ministerial servants at my hall were asked to attend a strange meeting last night.

  the society is asking for our help to raise $10,200.

  they are seeking to raise this money in april from elders and ministerial servants in our circuit only.

  my wife and in-laws are now here and i'm on now.

  i'm going to copy and paste my first post from jwstruggle...... my story is, i grew up as a jw.

  my parents found out later on and didn't tell anyone.

  How can anyone who is truly spiritual-minded attend Bethel and not realize it's all a scam

  not that i was any better(lol - but as i sat back and thought about the time i spent there, and the things i saw i feel disgusted.. i could literally write a thousand stories about the discrimination, favortism and all out dishonest that took place but i doubt anyone would actually care.

  the one thing however that really sticks out in my mind is when i was in a nice room with my roommate that he kind of inherited after his previous roommate left.

  it actually had a bathroom and we both had space for real beds(not those dang trundle beds like we had in standish).. .

  i just want to say to those of you who have been there and done that - i am glad you made it out and are living sane lives. it seems to me like checking into a jail willingly...and taking whatever is dished out. i knew guys who ended up really messed up mentally by the time they left - i knew others who walked in and were gone within the first month....they were probably smarter.....
