  An Introduction

  since i have been a lurker off and on for years, i thought it was high time i got off my duff and joined.

  i didn't look at member names when i sat up my account, so i didn't realize there was a desertrat already, i am just a slight difference with a space in there.

  thought i would point that out right away so there would hopefully be no confusion.. my name is sue and i live in nevada.

  Welcome Sue...I am sorry to hear of the deaths of those close to you. I was born-in, raised...and it took me forever to get free, but thankfully I have. I have no use for any organized religion personally, but respect those who do find a place and peace in a religion. I think even the Witnesses hold an attraction for people who are quite needy and not comfortable in their own skin...but, be that as it may. My only excursions into the halls of Babylon have been for funerals, and I must say, one Catholic one I went to was most pleasant.

  Field Service Question

  i know that the wts say`s that the jw`s are ever on the increase, more people, more studies etc.

  yet where i live, (a residential suburb of quite a large city), i rarely see the jehovah`s witnesses going from door to door.

  i think that they`ve knocked on my door once, and i got a memorial invite pushed through the letter box a few weeks ago.

  someone just reminded me....those letter-writers that have absolutely NO command of the English language.... I always found that thought down-right frightening. And the dopiest of the dopes were the ones doing the most of it.....

  for real and totally insane... what person in their right mind wants to go touring a factory in high heels. plus the thing about the cleaning in your dress clothes. when i was involved and they'd have the hall cleaning after the meetings, i just refused to do anything. i told them that when i do housework at home i am appropriately attired and if they want my help they can arrange to do it at a non-meeting time. so....i missed out on the priviledge of cleaning the loo...........boo hoo................

  but seriously, that brochure is just plain ridiculous. and i will never get what is so offensive about seeing female knees.

  i can`t believe how many people send me email to tell me... i`ve won money..i have a huge inheritance..jesus told them to email me,so i could help them with millions of dollars ect..ect..ect... in the last 2 days jesus has sent 3 people..lol!!.

  i normally don't go around looking for jws.

  after my morning coffee and breakfast taco at jim's, i went over to big lot's to look around.

  outside of the store, they have an island where a couple of trees were either saved - or planted - and provide a nice shade during the day.. under these trees, in the shade, was this fella - dressed in nice slacks and a shirt - wearing a tie - reading - or flipping through what appeared to be an 'awake' or a 'watchtower'.

  Actually when you look at it objectively, it's really quite humorous. It makes no sense whatsoever and the poor lemmings will eat it all up and congratulate themselves for being blessed with new light...or expanding light, or lightning light....however they describe the phenonemal zaps of holy spirit on the self-centered big shot dudes in Brooklyn or on the farm or wherever they hole up and dream up these fantasies.

  I cannot believe I was suckered into this foolishness for as long as I was, but when you are raised in it, it is all you know, and you are fed this crap about how blessed you are to have the Truth and paradise right around the corner. Of course if you don't hawk the message sufficiently you'll die a horrendous death. I was doomed to start with...

  At any rate, this whole thing is just so silly it's unbelievable!!!

  I saw a Kingdom Hall in the most unusual place I've ever been last week...........

  so there i am, on a rented boat soaring down the canals of the famous "floating market" of thailand.

  it was about 12:30 pm, so most of the waterways were fairly cleared out of the merchant boats, so our rented boat was really moving to get to where our host wanted to take us this fine day.

  i was sitting at the very front of the boat, so i didn't get splashed by the mirky canal waters of the mekong.
