  Jehovah's Witnesses and restaurant bills

  did you ever have the experience of going to a restaurant with witnesses and spending 30mins sorting out the restaurant bill?.

  oh yeah...our worst was the "brother" who after all the fuss went back and stole the tip my hubby had left. nobody came up with enough $$ for the bill, much less the tip....so my hubby being the generous soul he is covered the tab, plus left a good tip. this dude actually made some excuse and went back and pocketed it.

  then there was one CO who was known to befriend those who he knew would take him to $$$ restaurants and foot the bill....we became very good "friends" for a rather short while - same couple wanted us to go on an out-of-country vacation with them....we saw the handwriting on the wall and opted not to........

  Do You Appreciate The Service Of Our Military?

  being raised a jehovah's witness, i did not have any appreciation for the military or for veterans.. now, when i see a military person, especially in uniform, i am grateful for their work as well as the fact that they risk their lives for us.. do you appreciate our men and women of the military?.

  i have the highest respect for members of the us military. my husband is an ex-navy man, and some of his best days were those spent while enlisted active and later in reserves. the discipline, the respect and the education is the best. i hold those men and women in highest regard.

  i have never been happier in my life than i am now that i am out of that miserable religion.

  remember you are young - don't know if you are in college, but i certainly hope you have clear plans of getting a good education and choosing a career with which to support yourself. everyone needs that, plain and simple.

  i agree with the idea that "over-frosting" it is not the way to go. i would pull back and start expressing individuality and your real thoughts.

  Bipolar Landlady kicks me out!

  fun times.. a year and a month have passed since i moved in to the house where my cousin deb and her husband bobby live.. i had a small but comfortable room, tv, etc.. a nice cozy family situation, you might say....right?.

  i pay $600 a month to defray expenses.. hunky dory.. sure.

  until the first few eruptions!.

  terry - move forward - texas sounds like a good idea. i have a friend who is bi-polar, and know exactly what you describe. it is next to impossible to deal with and for whatever reasond, bipolars are the most unlikely to keep to their med regimen. (right up there with schizophrenics). you've tried to live there and it just does not and will not work, so you are stuck and need to make a move.

  i personally hope you do the texas route and be close to family who love you. also, that you find a job - even if its greeting people at home depot or walmart or stocking shelves or bussing tables - i know it is way beneath you mentally - you have a highly developed brain - but the people thing and being out there in different situations is really a good thing - healthful..........

  It Appears The Elderly Are More Taken Care Of Then Ever Before By The Elders

  i usually find fault with the religion but i must give credit when due.

  in the hall my mom is in, they regularly check on her and assign different ones to visit and check on the elderly.. if there's a storm or an extremely cold day, they come by to make sure the elderly have everything they need..

  that is very nice, minimus - but is a local thing - some care, some don't - i really have observed more that neglect than care.....but then again - depends on who you are, who you are related to, etc. very subjective usually...

  welcome - and best wishes for a simple withdrawal from the religion. many here have found themselves in similar circumstances - and every situation and relationship is different. you may get many different ideas - some may work for you, others not so much.

  i was "in" for a long time bodily, but long after my very long fade i began to realize how very "out" i actually really was all those years. like you, a very hideous child abuse case was the last straw - the condoning of pedophilia really really got to me - but however you formulate your exit - be honest with yourself first and foremost. there is no point in living a hypocrisy pretending to have your heart in something that sickens you to the core. how your wife responds is very important to you obviously - and you know her best - go with your heart.

  good day...so this is the conversation i had with a co-worker of mine i mentioned in an earlier thread...shes a jw and doesnt know that i was associated with the jws before and that im a fader.

  congrats KoolJo - you are a RV!!

  i find the comment that JW's take child abuse more seriously to be offensive. how in the world can anyone make a blanket statement like that (aside from doing so out of sheer ignorance). no one has barometers that gauge levels of how "seriously" individuals or groups take it. suffice to say (silence of the lambs) jw's track record of taking this terrible societal problem "seriously" is quite quite poor.

  If they stop printing the yearly totals, will they stop tracking hours?

  so if the soc stop printing the yearly totals in the yearbook as many are predicting, does this mean there is no longer any need to keep track of each individuals hours?.

  will this mean the end of our monthly reports?.

  blondie - i remember the chart....

  amusing - but i recall one summer convention probably 30 years agoish.....and a statement was made from the platform that "scorecards aren't kept in heaven". guess its just an earthly thing...... they go to such lengths to bash competitiveness in sports and other areas, but completely rely on it to keep the activity level 'up'......

  it is spam - and they want $$ to boot. i'm sick of all the local singles that stream on my sidebar - these guys that all look fantastic and are younger than sons i would have had - and i want to know why it is that when i am out and about - at the mall, stores, restaurants, at work, etc. the average 30something guy looks nowhere near as good as these dudes??????? is the devil planting modern-day nephilim on our computers to confuse us and make us think that there is indeed an ultra-species out there that are dashingly handsome, kind, loving, giving, interesting and well-heeled?
