Sounds odd. What does your carrier have to do with it....you got a number and a connection...that's it. None of their business who you pay for said connection.

Weekly Meeting Importance Being Reduced - Your Thoughts?
by JWTom ini am pimo, but now have 40+ years of being a jw as i was raised in a 3rd generation family of witnesses and continue to fake my way through things - fading as i can.. for the vast majority of my time as a jw, the meetings were the central focus for all jws to get teaching, association, information and so on.
nothing was more important than being at the meetings!
over the last 20 years starting with the elimination of the weekly book study in homes and continuing down to today - my opinion is that the value/purpose of the weekly meetings continues to be diluted or minimized.

From my observation, a good portion of jw's remain loyal for social reasons...the people factor, the group dynamic. Take away that actual organized physical aspect by deleting halls and actual real meetings and there are going to be a lot of unhappy campers....and they will gradually seek alternative support groups and systems. The doctrine used to be so much more significant, but that has been so convoluted and diluted most don't even know what they believe in....so.....I see the sect dissipating.

The Great Crowd Fallacy
by Vanderhoven7 inthe great crowd of other sheep witnesses allegedly first began forming early on in the 20th century.
rutherford was totally unaware of this crowds existence until 1935. it was revealed to him in 1932 that the great crowd members were heaven-bound.
then light flashed from heaven in 1935 showing that this group was an earthly class.

Such a conundrum...perhaps the judge figured that since he was heaven bound he'd need earthly subjects, hence the new light. In any event millions then living have now died. .......so my erudite conclusion is that the judge misinterpreted....

Too funny!! I remember hearing that bizarre story. Patterson is in New York state...which is not New England...just abuts NE states....not that that matters...
Perhaps the dog got a lot of attention at the hall...maybe people brought him treats. That would account for the meeting time excitement. Other than that dogs can be creatures of habit...so perhaps it was just his routine. Or perhaps the story is just a fairy tale.
At any rate, that was a spiritually minded dog. How happifying.

My latest letter to WT demanding correction from their side
by Kosonen inbrothers and sisters associated with the watchtower society may 9, 2020. i have tried to inform you of the necessary adjustments you ought to take in order to truly be in the truth.
but my efforts have remained fruitless.
you well know the biblical procedure.

It seems all this mental energy could be made of better use..... Have you considered applying your intellectual acuities to something truly meaningful and constructive? The study of human physiology....the intricacies of astronomy and the universe....genetic biology...biochemistry.....so many interesting fields in which to gain expertise. Why not reduce biblical interpretations to a simple fun hobby..... Kosonen, you must be spending so much precious time on things over which you really have no say or control...why not regroup and attack a different challenge?

Memories of Maryland Conventions!
by Atlantis inposting for brother x. petra!.
if you were a child during the years of 1960 to 1970, the question isn't; do you remember these conventions?
the question is; how could you forget?

Oh yes.....yankee Stadium and polo grounds in 1958.....no wonder I developed an anxiety disorder...yankee Stadium in 1963...65..69...etc. Hot humid subway cars stuffed with stinky sweaty worshippers....then the thunder storms and everyone not under the tiers running for cover and they'd shroud the podium area with plastic. Putrid rest rooms reeking of stale urine...bad feces..and menstrual stench. Mirrors taped over...toilets that might or might not flush...waiting lines.....smelly food concession stands....interminable talks....but Freddie Franz was always a hoot. And the 3 day circuit assemblies...ours were usually school auditoriums they rented out. I actually liked them once I stopped puking from carsickness getting there as I sat in a classroom painting signs the whole time. Or laying in first aid with a puke bucket. Ahhh the memories...

Have you ever known elders who were more into being and elder than really being a believer?
by phoenixrising ini have known many elders who were much more into the idea of being an elder and getting all the old ladies to tell them what wonderful talks they give and the power then really being a believer.
i had one elder tell me that when he became an elder he was on top dog on top of the heap.
i knew some who were really all about the religion and following the cult.

From my observations it is decidedly a power trip for most. They get prominence of a sort, an audience and an ego trip....something that eludes them in any other scenario.

E-MAIL Shepherding during Covid stay at home
by wannabefree inmy wife is getting regular emails from the cobe ... you know we have the truth, the world is in the dark, we're special, hang in there, read this encouraging watchtower ... blah blah blah ... just wondering if these are coordinated from org.. recent mass email example .... " .... an excellent watchtower article in the july 2020. it is entitled “be convinced that you have the truth”.
the scripture is from 2 tim 3:14. we are to continue in the things we have learned and be persuaded to believe.
reflect for a moment what appealed to you about the truth which drew you to jehovah.

I wonder if the "shepherds" have to track their time for their "encouraging" electronic visits?
Whatever I am so glad they never bugged me.....only a couple visits way back when and I was conveniently not at home.
