What is his name? I think I know him, but I can't think of his name. He has a huge collection of sheriff badges and picks up more everywhere he goes. For a CO, he was a nice one.

Pentagram in the Kingdom Hall
by free2beme inwe had a co who thought it was funny to wear a sheriff badge like the one above.
did he realize it was modeled after this?.
pentagrams have long since been symbols of protection and that is why they evolved into sheriff badges.

I'm surprised the obituary skipped right over the Armageddon prediction in 2034. (combined years of the first 3 kings of Israel, amount of years it took to build the ark and how old Moses was... 1914 + 120 = 2034) I guess the worldly newspapers are no better at reporting in the future than they are today.
Loved it!

the reality of the matter was that it probably was more than one.. .

Hamsterbait, that is the sickest story I've seen lately. What nerve to continue on with the talk! Didn't it occur to them to cancel the meeting due to the circumstances? Apparently not!
OUTLAW, now I see why the memorial partakers stay around the 8,000 mark. I just wonder how they get Lloyd Barry's stuffed body to chew and drink.

January 14, 2007; the most bizarre comments I have ever heard at a Hall
by MinisterAmos inmost of you have already scoped out the wt lesson for yesterday that blondie provided, but i'm going to add to it a bit and share the audience comments for the meeting.. i'm also going to share some direct-from-the-gb "new-light" that was revealed by the speaker in his discussion.....ready?.
so the wife and i are on vacation yesterday and visit a congregation located in western fl or east al; floribama as the natives call it.. the speaker began by telling us that the "happy god" isn't really happy because of the state of the world.
i forgot to ask him where that fact is found in the bible.

First, no matter HOW MANY TIMES they study the parable of "The Good Samaritan" the Dubs can't seem to figure out that the Jews in the story represent the chosen of god, and the Samaritans represent apostates, sworn enemies of the Jews. In the parable it is the APOSTATE that comes to the rescue of god's chosen which should pretty much erase any idea that apostates are evil; Jesus told the tale for a reason.
So what did the audience get out of it? (exact quotes, how does the last one tie in with the parable?)
"Oh if my (non-JW) neighbor is sick I could bring her some food but of course I'd never eat with her"
"We have to avoid speaking to the Brothers who are weak in the faith and never eat with them" (Not talking about DF'ed)
"We saw an example of the good samaritan after the hurricane when JW's from all parts came to help us, my neighbors wanted them to come help them their house but the brothers are not for hire, they only help their brothers in the faith"
They are the two men who passed by the beat up jew and didn't help. And yet they are too stupid to know it.

Looks like that spiritual food spoiled in the desert sun. Bizarre how anyone became or stayed a JW after going to one of those 7-8 day sales meetings. What was Watchtower thinking? How did anybody get anything benefitial from going to those events?
I wish they would have another 7 day convention just so we can see what the attendence would be? Do you think most JWs would go to all 7 days?

Do You Get Any Pleasure Out of the Holidays Since Leaving the Watchtower?
by jayhawk1 inyesterday was my crappy birthday, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/20/127389/1.ashx and while the evening went along, i realized something.
i've been out of the watchtower for about 6 years now and i still don't enjoy the holidays or my birthday.
i can't recall one time saying to myself, "wow, that was so much fun.

I enjoyed each and every reply here. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my inquiry. With the first Christmas I had (and other holidays) I made the most of them. It was a new thing to me and I wanted to do it right. Ever since, the joy of each has diminished greatly. Don't get me wrong, I love spending time with my family and do so often. But that's just it, I do spend a great amount of time with family, so it hardly makes the holidays any different than any other day.
So it keeps me wondering, is there some sort of joy I'm missing? Or is this all there is and I need to keep my attitude simple?
I will come back to this thread when the need is there. That's what is so great about this board.

I really appreciate all the replies on this thread. Yesterday was not a good day for me and I was in a bad mood for most of it. I have a tough time enjoying my birthday as it is, but with my wife's job loss, my mood was sour. Hopefully things will improve once again.

I've been out of the Watchtower for about 6 years now and I still don't enjoy the holidays or my birthday. I can't recall one time saying to myself, "Wow, that was so much fun. I had a great time." What's wrong with my attitude? Could it be that the reason I don't find joy in the holidays is because I was told they was bad most of my life? I wonder if those who never had the restrictions of no holidays really enjoy the holidays and their birthdays or if they just simply go along with it because of peer pressure. For me, I just do it because my wife expects me to join her in celebration. I know if it wasn't for her, holidays would just be another unimportant day.
Man, I feel like $H!T lately. I hope you can find it in your hearts to express yourself, because I need several opinions here. How do I get the joy of holidays? Will I ever get the joy of holidays? Or should I just give up trying, which is currently how I feel?
I just wonder why do I bother to try anymore.
