FIVE OCTOBERS IN A ROW? Some people never learn.

perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.
FIVE OCTOBERS IN A ROW? Some people never learn.

my father was rushed by ambulance from his rest home to st. marks hospital in salt lake city, utah friday, but i only just heard about it.
i received a call from the floor nurse and she told me he is not expected to live.
his lungs are filled fill up with fluid and are continuing to fill u with more fluid: he has pneumonia.
My heart goes out to you. I wish last year I could have told my dad goodbye.
Almost in tears,
Jeremy

recently, i received information about the top secret post-armageddon plans the society has in place.
you may have heard rumors about these plans before and what work is being formulated for each congregation.
this information comes from a "heavy" uncle of mine, a 7th generation witness himself, and grandson of the designer of the society's aborted attempt to produce a portable cinematic projection system for the door-to-door ministry in the 1930's.
Very good. Applause.

did you realise that joe ratherflawed spoke in a "fatherly tone"?
well, that's what the july 15 issue of the watchtower says.. in a section obviously intended to boost the reputation of jfr in the minds of modern-day witnesses, the skilful use of adjectives conjures up a picture of kind benevolence.. in just 4 paragraphs, expressions used are "largest convention", "listened intently", "fatherly tone", "children rose as one body", "burst of applause", "prolonged applause", "moving talk", "long line", "gift copy", "moved the audience to tears", "memorable assembly".. now try reading these four paragraphs without the adjectives.
they weren't essential to the story but they sure help to tug at the heartstrings.. it reminds me of the adulation of despots like mao tse tung and stalin who were written about during their regimes in similar language to this article.. note this quote in this section from an "eyewitness": "only a heart of stone would not be moved at the spectacle of youth [showing] complete trust and faith in their god, jehovah".
There is definitly no such thing as the perfect couple, but ol' Joe really dropped the ball on this one. Maybe Joe never heard of marital counceling.

you all remember the episode of the practice with the blood issue etc and the lady lawyer ... it was on again last night and the second half will air next week.. i think this is good timing.
puts the stuff right back in the face so that it's all fresh for dateline.. kinda it's a primer... get's the blood flowing.
or in this episode not!
That was a great episode. I wish I knew it was on again.

a fews days ago, i met this elderly jewish man, with such a personaltity.
he said that he was 8 years old when he was in the concentration camp.
his stories amazed me.. anyway, as it turns out, he is now an atheist.
SlayerLayer,
I found the article very interesting, but it did not offer any solutions. It said to try to quiet the silent rage by being objective. How can I be objective if the one with the religion is not objective with me? Sometimes being understanding is a hard thing to do. When people come to this forum love bombing, I just want to say, "Look, you have your belief, and I have mine. Now we can all be polite about what we believe and agree to disagree, or we can learn to hate each other." Personally I am agnostic, I want to believe in God, but God has not been present as far as I can tell.

i being a non jw would like some clairity.
i have been reading the book of revelation and have found that god and jesus are refered to in the same way.
"i am the alpha and the omega, who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty.
No offense taken COMF. I know the "eat shit Bob" part was not directed at me. I don't feel like engaging him. I usually have my say and let other people give their opinions. After all that is all faith is anyway, my opinion vs. your's. My opinion is God could be out there, but he/she has not made himself/herself known to me. And I have my doubts if God ever will make himself/herself know to me.

Thanks COMF, you have been around this kind of thing longer than myself. I came here looking for people like myself. People that were kicked to the curb by the WatchTower. I guess I am not as confrontational as yourself, so if Bob is a troll, I will ignore him soon enought.

Rex, I don't want to put words into your mouth, so could you please explain something to me. Are you saying people are born into Christian countries so they can accept God, meanwhile somebody else is born into an Islamic country because they will not accept God? That sounds like predestination to me. Again, I might have misunderstood what you are saying. Predestination is not taught in the Bible as far as I know. Perhaps you can explain what you said, so I am not confused.

Hey COMF, bad day? Do you know Bob Knowing? Is there something I don't understand? I don't want to piss you off, but I would like to know what is up.
