My Dad called
by Elsewhere inthe other day i sent my family a framed studio photograph that i had made for them.. i called to make sure they got it and my mom said that she did and that it was placed with the other family photos in the living room.. a few days later my dad called to thank me.
he then went off into a tangent about how he wants me to come back to the "truth".
i told him that i respect his right to believe as he will, but i expect the same in return.

I understand how you must be feeling... but I don't believe you should think of it as back to square one. You've worked hard to get this far... if some JW's show up at your door, relay to them in the nicest possible way that you have absolutely NO interest and please do not call again. As far as your dad's concerned, he sounds like a very loving but very confused man. He did his "duty" to remind you of the "trooth" and so his conscience should be clear on this point. I tend to feel bad for him because he is so confused. I think the best you can do for him is just to continue to love him... lumps and all!

(could be serious, could be fun...) i for one, am just sooo curious to meet the cat himself... just to find out if he's much different in person than in his online persona!

As many here would tell you, go slowly! If you're really concerned abou their spiritual welfare, I would start by stating something very simply... like, "I heard x, y, z about the WT's association with the UN... have you ever HEARD such a thing?" Posing the question like you can't quite believe it. You'll get your answer quick enough about whether they'll just dismiss it or are really curious and TRULY spiritually concerned. If they dismiss it, I personally would totally drop the subject with them, unless, of course, you want to find yourself in front of a committee. They'll turn you in faster than you can blink because they'll think they're "saving" you. Another thing to think about, on another thread a while back, someone said to why not just let sleeping dogs lie, in a sense. If it's not hurting anyone and you do not want to make waves, you continue to believe as you wish and let them continue to worship as they like.

Yes... the area I live in is "littered" with the famous... but I can't name names 'cos that would give me away to any JW lurkers here who might know me. (I told some witnessing stories many times to my friends!!) Sorry. When I'm finally, fully "out", I'll be sure to revisit this (and many other!) threads to give a proper response. The majority of reactions I got from the famous, now that I think of it, were those of "pity". Kind of like... oh, aren't you sweet and harmless... now please remove yourself from my doorstep.
