I'm not one of the "smart" ones about all this... and don't understand lot's of legal issues... but this one has "done it" for me. How can anyone respect the WBTS again? Someone a few days ago said that if they can say: we're now off the list... by-gones! Then they should not be able to disfellowship ANYONE for ANYTHING that they've done if that person says... "well, not doing it anymore!"

Has the WTS ever made a prediction that came true?
by Leander inthis morning a thought occured to me "has the society ever made a prediction or prophecy that has come true"?.
most of us are familiar with the prophecies or dates the wts has emphasized in the past.
of course all of those predictions never proved to be accurate so the question is, "if this is god's prophetic organization where is the proof"?.

Nytel,
you sound very, very angry... and I don't think it's just from this thread or any name-calling either. I was really, really angry all the time too when I was attending all meetings and trying to to EVERYTHING that the WBTS wanted. You should really take a step back and start taking care of yourself. If you are proud that you don't conform and that you don't "run" to the elders, etc., etc... then I hate to tell ya, but you are NOT a true JW. So why keep defending them?

Mr. Moe... we know you're serious... please accept people's faux pas as a reaction to the "times" we're in. Very frightening and I believe people just wanted to know where in the US you were! I do hope all's ok with you and your associates.

Mr. Moe: I hope your boss is ok also! Someone asked this already, but what town/state are you from/in? I did hear about the 2 people in Florida... they both worked for the same newspaper. From what reports I heard, they shut down the Florida Sun and Orlando Sentinal and National Inquirer (all in South Fla). All employees were ordered to local hospitals for tests. (Just in on the radio!) This is too much....

Hey There ! All You Disfellowshipped Ones!
by Englishman inis your anger with the jw religion due mainly to the fact that you have been df'd?
is it possible that persons who post here who are not disfellowshipped can feel as angry as those who are being shunned and who are therefore being effectively gagged?.
is the df'ing policy of the wtbts the main reason that ex-jw's seem to go all out to get other witnesses out of the org?

Hi! I'm not df'd either... still "in"... but I AM angry because the borg : ) makes you and everyone else afraid to even TALK about anything they don't deem appropriate! As soon as I even slightly mention something to any family members... they get all anxious and start talking about "getting help in the form of the elders". Yuk!

You could definitely write to the Watchtower, Bible & Tract Society... but don't send request to Brooklyn. Address it to Walkill, NY (don't know the zip). I don't remember a street address being necessary... the post office knows where they are! :)

What about the children?
by sweetone2377 ini feel sorry for all jw's who get sucked in by the thinking "we will love you as long as you are good enough for jah.
" but, i feel worse for the children.
adults are able to decide for themselves, whether it's a religion that they want to persue.

I never felt that I was missing out on too much as a child. My folks were GREAT and we had lots of parties (even around holiday times, but not holiday-themed) I believe just so my bro. & I wouldn't feel like we were missing out. The one thing I DO remember at school was Valentine's day. In grade school we all had to make envelope "pockets" to put out in front of our desks. Then the class spent 2 days making valentine's cards for their friends (I of course, got dismissed to the library... I loved to read so I don't remember feeling that bad). On THE day, everyone got to put their cards in each others envelopes. I got a TON of cards in mine... but remember feeling soooo bad that I couldn't give out any cards to the kids myself. At 7 years old I remember my first real feeling of embarassment at that... I felt awful.

Welcome FormerOne!
I just want to say to everyone that I just cannot believe how many individuals who are now out (or thinking of coming out) were/are Pioneers, Overseers, Aux.'s, etc. I used to think that all "apostates" or whatever people prefer to call themselves MUST be the weaker sort...People who always have been on the fringes...or the ones who "just got by". I guess that just ain't so!
