Here's the wikipedia page for his brother, Marques Houston. In all of his albums he thanks Jehovah by name and in one of them he talks about seeing his mother in the new system. I don't know if his brother ever got baptized though.

JWs... You are not unique! take a look at this. My research
by Aussie Oz inin my research i have decided to go waaaay back.
so, one of the first things i did was look at the beginnings with regard to charles taze russell.. while this may be old news to many, this is indeed new to me.
and i want to tell this to the jws that are no doubt on here too.. you are an adventist sect.. without posting the expanded (very long) version of my research, i will post the basics that lead me to this conclusion.. how unique are jehovahs witnesses?

Tuesday, you forgot to mention United Church of God on the list. IMO they seem to be more similar in doctrine to jws than 7th day adventist. 7th day adventist believe in the trinity.

Sisters told they strictly can't wear slacks to Meetings to keep them submissive! Why?
by Witness 007 inyes slacks and pants on women are evil.....the first step to wanting to be elders or even worse lesbians!
so the watchtower in it's wisdom put a strict bad on women wearing pants at meetings, even in siberia or alaska where it is freezing cold....i qoute the governing body who said: "we need to show these sisters who wears the pants in our congregations...literally.".
in the 70's when it was all the rage, my mum tried wearing slacks to the hall....."go and get changed" said the sister who studied with her.

I'm not sure if I posted this video correctly but this is the united church of god members. I saw this a few weeks ago and it pissed me off when I saw that their women can wear pants and we couldn't. You'll see her in pants as she's walking away.

Elsewhere asked, "I know there are therapist who specialize in working with exJWs but I do not know of any. Does anyone know of a therapist in the Dallas area?"
I've been wondering this myself. Anybody know?

ex bethelite experiences
by escape-artist inhello i used to serve at wallkill bethel.
i lived in the c building, i remember doing my watchman asignments with the little divice that you use to scan the areas you are supposed to reach.
at this time the construction was not complete in the printery and areas next to the main lobby.

some times they would wake up while being cut open and you saw an animal hanging by its legs screaming with blood pooring out of it till it choaked on its own blood
I hate the thought of an animal screaming, helpless, and choking on its own blood. The desire to be a vegetarian and believing in the bible always caused a lot of cognitive dissonance in me. I'm much more at peace now.
how are animals killed outside of bethel?
According to the videos I've seen it's the same.

The slaughterhouse, huh? I always wondered how the bethel farm animals were treated. Are they abused the way other factory farms are known for doing? Are they killed humanely?

It's snowing pretty hard in Dallas. The snow is falling inside of the parking garage I'm parked in and turning to ice. I just hope I'm able to drive outside of the garage safely when I get off work. A few minutes ago a car was trying to drive up in the garage and started sliding down.

New here
by Stimorol ini've been lurking this board the past few days and reading a lot.. i'm a 30 year old male from an unnamed european country, i was brought up "in the faith" by my jw-parents (my father is an elder and was even the "head elder" (i guess that's not the proper english term, english isn't my mother language) for a while, although i believe he stepped down when i faded away, but was reinstated as an elder later.
i never really had any interest in religion or god, not even as a child, even with my perfect jw upbringing.
it always felt like a chore and i did my jw duties, but just the bare minimum i could get away with, living at home with jw parents (attending the 3 meetings every week, and going to do field work 1 hours on saturdays).. at around age 15-16 i got baptized, i was not directly pressured to do it but some hints were made by parents/elders.
