I didn't tell my husband about the earthquake in California either. I don't know if he's aware of it yet. He hasn't said anything.

Earthquakes, Persecution: I Hate Self-Fulfilling Prophecy
by OnTheWayOut inwhen i heard that another earthquake happened, this one in baja california, i didn't want to mention it to the wife.
apparently, a series of earthquakes has recently happened with one possibly aiding to trigger the next.
but that doesn't change the fact that we always have earthquakes from time-to-time.

What year Did you Stop Attending Meetings - How Long were you a JW ?
by flipper ini'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

The effect of this religion on my children & the action I had to take - Part II
by jambon1 ini posted this part of the story earlier this week.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/experiences/191112/1/the-effect-of-this-religion-on-my-children-the-action-i-had-to-take-part-i.
so we are at the point where my daughter has been taking in my lifestyle for 4 years since she i left the truth when she was just 4 years old.
my son who is a couple of years younger thankfully seems to be immune to most of the indoctrination from the jws.

Reading this brought back memories from my own childhood. It made me so upset I started to cry. You're right that the thoughts your daughter is having shouldn't be going through anyones mind, let alone a child's.
I look forward to reading part III.

The whole book is a handbook on how to keep people in absolute submission. As in "This is how you will study. This is how you will read. This is how you will pronounce. This is how you will deliver your speech. This is how we want you to dress. This is how you will feign interest in an unbeliever. This is how you will analyze the birdfeed to determine what makes them tick and what kind of "questions" you might ask so he is interested in talking and will not feel that you're manipulating him, but, instead, will feel that HE HAS SOMETHING TO TELL YOU!, which opportunity you will use to deliver WHAT WE TELL YOU YOU SHOULD TELL HIM". And then it goes on to say "This is how you will focus your attention on whatever is being said at the Kingdom Hall, even if it's nonsense. This is how you will start a conversation with a fellow serf." Et cetera.
I never thought about the TMS in this way. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

"What are others observations about the numbers attending in their regions?"
I went to my MIL's hall so I can't compare their past memorials but every seat was not filled the way my hall usually is.

Did you feel alone amongst the great crowd of JW's?
by highdose inlike there you were at an assembly maybe, everyone seems to be swarming with freinds, and you are the one left out unwanted and made to feel like you don't belong there?.
-
doublelife
Yes, I often felt alone at the assemblies/conventions. Why did everyone else have close friends and I was always the outsider? Maybe because of my upbringing I learned to distance myself and not trust anyone. Or maybe it was because all along I never fit into the jw mold but didn't realized it until last year because of all the mind control.

I went to a spanish congregation with my husband and his mom. I didn't understand anything so to make time go by I brought my ESV bible and read Luke's and John's account.
This was the first meeting where I heard the new songs and I have to agree with everyone that they are awful. What was the GB thinking?
