well for those of you who many not know i gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on the 31st jan, however our joy soon turned to concern when it was discovered our son had breathing problems.
this concern later turned to fear as we learned that he had a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (cdh) and that he would need an operation asap.. basically our baby had a hole in his diaphragm and most of his digestive system now resided in his left chest cavity compressing his heart and lungs into the remain space in the right cavity.
this is a very serious condition and much of the information we were given made very bleak reading.
That is such great news about your son! I'm so happy for you and your family. I'm also glad you were treated respectfully by the hospital. I hear so many stories of moms being treated horribly by the staff.
I'm glad you weren't put off by my concern. It is genuine but I know it can hard to accept from unknown people. If you ever wanna chat baby stuff feel free to PM me anytime! I can talk it for hours and do so regularly on my other boards. lol.

Congrats on the birth of your son! I'm sorry to hear of his need for surgery! How is he doing now? Is he "cured" or will he need further treatment/surgery?? I hope you and he are recooperating well. I know this must be just awful for you.
I have totally experienced and noticed that lack of concern from JWs. It's very hurtful. Especially when it comes from someone that has been a friend for years. It's devastating that they can't even show some human decency. I'm sorry you were treated this way.

Wow. That is such a sad article. I feel for all those victims. It's just awful how there is a policy to cover up such heinous acts.

i don't post very often but i'm in need of some support.. i left my husband and the jw's back in the summer.
we have 3 kids and have joint custody of them.. i've spoken to my family once - back in the fall and it was a great conversation - my parents (dad is an elder) said that they just wanted me to be happy however that is.. last week i got a voicemail from my mom saying that she loved me and thought about me every day.
i was so happy.

i don't know the details as i can't view youtube from work, but it did get me to thinking.... over the last couple of decades, at least, i've noticed that more and more 'fringe personalities', for a lack of a better term, have infiltrated the ranks of the everyday jws.
true, jws are themselves a fringe element to normal society, but even within their own communities, there used to be a sense of normalcy, or at least seemed to be.. has the cultic message of the wt society started attracting people with different thought processes over this time period?
I say sure why not? It's instant acceptance for people that may not be accepted elsewhere. All you have to do is show up at all the meetings and preach 15 mins a month. What "fringe" personality wouldn't be interested?

has anyone avoided a jc and probable disfellowshipping by providing a medical certificate/note to the elders( from their doctor or mental health professional) along the lines that they are suffering from depression, could not endure a jc or investigation, and the risk of disfellowshipping and being shunned by their family could worsen their depression and put their mental health/physical health at risk?.
if i was an elder and got a letter/note along those lines i think i would be scared off from going through with the jc..
I am wondering about this because I see that according to guidelines from Headquarters, the elders will back off and refer the matter to the Branch if "legal action" is threatened by the person being summoned to the enquiry/JC. I have heard of cases where elders get nervous about threats of legal action and so they take no further action.
Just wanted to say that I threatened them with legal action in writing and was still DF'd. They are getting around this now by changing the announcement to "so & so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses". It is "proved" by the mere fact that you don't attend the meetings apparently.
