Getting a lawyer to draw up a simple will shouldn't cost more than a couple of hundred dollars and it insure that its done right.

Making a Last Will and testament for ex JWs
by Simon inso you survived the wts upbringing and despite a bad start managed to put your life back together and plan for the future:.
pension planning and general finance for ex-jws.
sadly, you may find yourself still at a disadvantage as you lack the support group of friends and family that many rely on and could be cut-off even from immediate family.. but it can't get any worse can it?.

Cancer Research Update
by metatron inlife extension's annual directory states (pg13) that they are doing a phase i/ii trial on dichloroacetate against a variety of cancers.
there have been a few studies already suggesting it may be effective in brain/ovarian cancers.. it may involve upregulation of apoptosis.
lef has already published a complete remission (4 yrs) of non-hodgkin's lymphoma using dca, as a monotherapy after conventional chemo failed.. i am very happy to read this as i have little faith in the major charities or the fda in regard to honestly pursuing this matter - and given how cheap dca is, i can't see any positive drug company interest in it, either.

"Faith" would seem to be the right word for what's involved here. The scientific evidence seems shaky at best. For example
It may involve upregulation of apoptosis
Or it may not. A University of Alberta study showed that if may decrease apoptosis, resulting in MORE cancer, not less.

I have serious doubts that these people are JW's in good standing. I would not be surprised if either the police or the reporters got it wrong.

BOTR or Justicia where are you? Is it possible ( or useful) for some of us to file an Amicus Curiae statement? In particular I'm thinking of the double standards the WTBS applies to apostates and child molestors as pointed out by Simon. We could at least give voice to the sentiments of the xjw community in court. I'd be willing to put my name on such a document as I no longer have any connections to the witnesses.

Reports from JW's regarding the summer convention
by Lynnie inso, we're in the final countdown with the convention just over a month away.
i've talked to a few folks that have already attended it on the east coast and west coast and keep hearing that its the most up-building program they've ever been to.
seems the message is clear that we need to stop being so hard on ourselves and take time to appreciate the efforts we have put in and know that we are deeply loved.

Every assembly or convention I ever went to was the best one they ever did (in the eyes of the attendees). It was also possibly the last one in this system. I haven't been to one since 1988. Sounds like I haven't missed anything.

ApostaCy or ApostaSy, which is the correct spelling ?
by Phizzy ini am a pedant, but the reason i care about spelling and grammar etc on jwn is that jw's will pick on any minor error and discount everything else you say, so if you are writing articles on blogs or wherever, you need to get it "right", in the sense that it cannot be criticised.. i know that "apostasy" can be written with a c and be acceptable to some, but as the origin is the greek word apostasia i prefer to spell it with an s to avoid criticism.. we should try to make our spelling and grammar acceptable to all if we wish to be taken seriously, i think we need to pay attention on here too to make sure our posts make sense, with some posts i just think, "wtf are you on about ?".
pedants rant over..

I agree with Mum. I've seen stuff published in the Watchtower that would have gotten a "D" in junior high school English class.
Everything I'm looking at on google has an "s"
