Mandatory voting in USA
by Sour Grapes ini am sure that president obama's saying today that mandatory voting in the usa would be a good thing is going to get the witnesses all excited as they look forward to being persecuted for not voting.
just another sign showing how deep we are into the times of the end and how close they are to burying billions of people who don't read the watchtower.. sour grapes .

I'm sure that the witnesses will get all worked up over it. I also think its a bad idea and probably unconstitutional. If people don't have enough motivation to vote they likely don't have the motivation to find out anything useful about either the issues or candidates. And If some one has some reason not to vote (I disagree with the WTBS position on this, but they are free to think what they want) the government ought not to force them into participating in the process. -

A seductively dressed woman walks up to a man in a bar, leans close to his ear and whispers "I'll do anything for a hundred dollars."
He thinks for a moment, pulls out his wallet, hands her a hundred dollar bill and says "paint my house."

Creative writing query..
by DATA-DOG ini am working on a writing project.
just give me your opinion on this subject.
if you worked for your respective government and you were tasked with doomsday preparations, what would you decide to save for future generations?

A good treatise on the scientific method and they'll be well equipped to figure out what they need and how to build it when the time comes. A few basics on science and math will help the process.
Try to leave all of everything and it will end up unused and covered in dust because it will be overwhelming.

It should be on at 12:37 AM Wednesday morning, on the west coast. That's 07:37 UTC for the techies, Zulu if you've been in the military or GMT for Simon. I think it will be at 11:30 PM Tuesday for the mountain time zone. -

Assembly in Seattle this weekend?
by Lynnie indoes anyone know about an assembly or convention or whatever they call it now in the seattle-tacoma area in the last couple of weeks?
i have a ditzy cousin who posts on fb that the assembly was "promoting peace and the sun.
i'm sure they were really promoting money and the gb but my cousin is so newly brainwashed she has her own twist on everything.

As far as I know all the assemblies are held in a Hall built for that purpose, located in Puyallup. If it was a circuit assembly it would have been there, I think they have one almost every weekend. I live north of Seattle I have not heard of anything special going on, but I don't have any contact with the Borg anymore. -

What is the basis for authority for the governing body?
by Half banana ina word to jehovahs witnesses: what is the basis for the authority the seven members of the governing body can claim in controlling the lives of eight million followers?
the organisation they represent has never got one useful piece of information correct in one hundred and thirty five years... so why should they be believed?.

They use circular reasoning (or used to).
I remember seeing this in a couple of study articles years ago. The FDS teaches the truth about such Bible truths as the trinity, no hellfire, God's kingdom etc. Unlike the rest of Christendom.
A short time later they came out with a statement that we have to believe in such Bible truths as the Trinity, no hellfire, God's Kingdom etc because they've been taught to us by the FDS.

Greatest Proof for evolution!
by abiather in2014 was the worst year ever for terrorism: u.s. intel chief (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/wrost-year-global-terrorism-2014-article-1.2130490).
terror attacks reached their highest number in 2014 since 45 years of its history.
in the first nine months of 2014, there were 13,000 terror acts that killed some 31,000 people!

Social change does not equal biological evolution.
We evolved from the wise habit of prevention-better-than-cure to cure-better-than-prevention, then further evolved into fighting the symptoms rather than the roots
You obviously don't know much about medicine, either modern or historical.

Funny, just the other day I was listening to the NPR coverage of the Conti case with my wife and oldest son. Somebody they were interviewing mentioned secret communications to the elders. I said they weren't very secret as I was reading them here all the time.
Download starting, I may have some new blog material.

New "donation" arrangement begins to FAIL
by Tech49 inso here we are, almost a year into the "new" congregation donation arrangement.
and its beginning, as was predicted, to fail miserably, and to have direct negative consequences on the poor sheep.. let me give you a little experience, directly from our congregation of about 80 publishers.
back in may, after reading the letter about the "new" arrangement, the elder body decided to "donate" the extra funds on hand to wt, as directed.

New York, with the exception of the part about being CPA I could have written that post (including the part about the beard). My background is in real estate. I have thought since this started that they have some hurdle rate in mind, and underperforming congregations will be disbanded and merged elsewhere. Then they will sell the building.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall at their financial meetings.
