The Watchtower's cash flow problems and financial solvency with lawsuits payouts
by Brokeback Watchtower ini think with all this change we see occurring with the watchtower corporation's to deal with things means they are in financial trouble and are seeking to consolidate their real estate holdings for easy sale if needed to stay financially solvent.. they will stop or slowly decrease the door to door work and focus on the material potential of each member young and old for what ever they can get out of them.
this will lead to more leaving under their tyranny.

The proceeds of the NYC real estate sale could be expected to produce about $40 million a year if invested carefully. The current financial strategy seems to be sell old properties, transfer the money to HQ, and build the replacement with new donations. I don't think they're going to run out of money anytime soon. -

Something I trust less than the GB, a three dollar bill.
Disagree, I'd paste a picture of a politician I don't like on it and frame it. That's still more useful than the GB.

We may all need to get some popcorn and watch this one over the next few years. I bet there will be a BOE letter out some time in the next couple of years addressing these issues. I would anticipate a bunch of mealy-mouthed nonsense trying to cover everything from all sides. It will be written by lawyers and written in a way that makes it clear to the elders that gay marriage isn't marriage so it doesn't make any difference what the government says. I'm guessing they will use this to make gay couples dissolve the relationship, they will be free to enter into a heterosexual marriage after that, maybe even have privileges; after all at that point they'll be a shinning example of how Jehovah fixes everything.
If there's a legal blowup, like a lawsuit over something; it will all be the fault of the local elders.
Edited to add: I don't know how a GLBTQ* person with the brains God gave gravel could sit five minutes in Kingdom Hall.

Questions for those that believe in Electricity
by OnTheWayOut inyou can't see electricity or hear it or feel it.
well, there are sparks and lightning bolts and heating elements and the light and heat of filaments.
and somehow, it lights up neon in a tube.

The fun thing about science is that some new theory could come along tomorrow that would completely replace our current theories of electricity. It would have to explain everything that our theory of electricity explains, and probably something else that we currently don't understand. Such a thing would revolutionize how we look at the world around us, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility. As late as the 1930's physicists (Millikan, Einstein, Ernest Rutherford) we're saying atomic power was not possible. Fifteen years later we dropped the first A-bombs. -

Trust her or not, she's going to beat the next Republican candidate.
Maybe, she's carrying a lot of baggage and I keep hearing rumblings from my Democratic friends that they wish Elizabeth Warren would run. The common complaints about Hilary are that she's a phony liberal who is really on a power trip, and that she and Bill like hanging out with the oligarchs she claims to running against (and are more than happy to take their money).
On the other hand, the Republicans will have to try to find some one that's not a total idiot.
Personally, I don't think we'll break the partisan mess in Washington DC until some one forms a third party that will give the current ruling class a run for its money.

Mass Killer Joseph McEnroe stops studying with Jehovah's Witnesses after talking to elders
by jwleaks inon 25 march 2015 joseph mcenroe was found guilty of the 2007 mass killing of six members of his then-girlfriend's family, including two young children aged 3 and 5. a jury is currently deciding whether he should be executed.. associated press has recently reported that.... mcenroe confirmed that he felt some sort of acceptance with jehovah's witnesses until he told elders he didn't have a guilt-free conscience.
he stopped studying to be a minister.. mcenroe was quoted as stating the reason why he stopped studying being that.... "i felt that i had failed and that i had been rejected by god at that point.".

We moved a few years before this happened, it was just up the road from our house. We may have met these people as it's a small town, but I don't remember doing so. I've been following the case since it happened. This guy is completely nuts, watching video of the trial you realize just how wacky he is.
Even if they give him the death penalty he'll be around a long time, the current governor has said that he will not sign a death warrant for anybody, for anything.

If you don't believe what Bill said, go piss on an electric fence and see how that adjusts your feeling.
Also you can both hear and see electricity. Stand under a big long distance transmission line and less to the hum. That's electricity. Pull the plug on an electrical appliance without turning it off. That bright flash is electricity. This may also give you another chance to feel it.

What if we could bring down the WBTS?
by derangedjdub inwhat would be your plan or ideal reason the walls came crashing down?
-
JeffT
Be careful what you wish for.
Millions of loyal adherents would be devastated. There would be thousands of suicides, and the survivors would almost certainly glom onto other, possibly far more damaging, cults.This. JW's have been trained to follow. If the WTBS comes down in a crash they'll find somebody else to follow. If it dies a natural death they may wake up and find better things to do, but they will have to find it on their own.
