The trouble is the average JW probably actually believes that bullshit. The WTBS has their thought processes so twisted up they can no longer tell what's real and what isn't.

False oath in Russia
by neat blue dog ini'll be the first to say that the russian government is pretty terrible and overreaching in its', power but that's not what this is about.
in a recent hearing, a witness for the jws said this under oath:.
one thing makes jehovah’s witnesses unique: they do not rely on strict rules or the authority of any particular leader, instead, they try to help adherents develop a bible-trained conscience so that each individual can personally and voluntarily make decisions guided by the bible.. i'm sorry but that is just not true.

Do you know how big the sun is? How little Mercury is? This event happens about 14 times a century, always in either May or November. Did you see the last one? (May 2016 - and no, I don't think anybody else noticed either). The one before that was in November 2006.

"This is Where They Lived Happily Ever After Begins"
by The Bethelite ini saw this sign (i'm sure the bride must have bought it) at a wedding rehearsal dinner yesterday.. yes, the smiling bride was there ordering her soon to be groom around as they were setting up their party decorations.
i'm sure today october 5th will would be the happiest day of their young lives.. have you ever noticed that many movies end at the wedding ceremony?
because for the vast majority of marriages that is the best it ever gets!

My wife and I were married forty-five years ago tommorrow. It's been mostly good, sometimes not. I wouldn't change it, even the dumb KH wedding when we had no idea what we were getting into.

The WTBS will remove the elders and replace them with elders that will do as they're told, and sell the hall. There are decided court cases saying this is legal. A public go-fund me page to raise money to stay, will be greeted with joy by the public, who will take it as sign the JW's are leaving their community.

I keep seeing politicians promising me stuff: free college, cheap houses, more roads, filled in potholes, world peace, complete destruction of the bad guys (whoever they are), lower taxes, higher taxes on other people, and anything else they think I might want and will make me vote for them.
So far, nobody's delivered anything.

Retired real estate accountant here. (commercial and apartment buildings). That isn't actually legalize, to me that document reads like what I'd expect a bright high school student to say in an essay entitled "How to buy a house," its a cut and paste job by a non professional .
What most interesting about it is what they don't say about ownership. They mention two ways of owning the property: a trust, managed by the elders; and a coporation (probably an LLC in most of the US). What they don't say is that it doesn't make any difference, the WTBS ends up in control of the property, because they can change the elders anytime they want.
This happened in California a few years ago. The WTBS wanted to sell a property. When the local elders refused the WTBS brought in new elders that would do as they were told. The original elders filed suit and lost, because the court ruled that it could not settle a religious dispute under the 1st amendment.
So even though all the paperwork may have the name of the local congregation on it, the real owner is the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

District convention to be held in assembly hall instead of stadium
by NikL inlast night they announced that this summers district convention will be held at an assembly hall.. this is the first time i've seen this happen.
there are a couple of congregations in the same hall here and they aren't going to the same ones.
they are having multiple dates.. the hall they are going to use can only hold 1500 people max.. just wondering if maybe they just couldnt get anything bigger this year or if the falling numbers are playing a part in this decision.

Tresdecu, welcome to the NW, I live in Woodinville.
When I became a JW in the seventies, the big conventions were held in the Kingdome (which doesn't exist anymore). Typically about 50,000 people attended. Then they went to the Tacoma dome, with about 10,000 attending each of two or three conventions. So going to the assembly hall is just another data point in the downward slide.
