United Nations elects Saudi Arabia to Women's Rights Commission
by freemindfade inthe irony would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.
that's right, a country that bans women from driving cars is on the un womens rights commission.
"electing saudi arabia to protect women’s rights is like making an arsonist into the town fire chief," .

A number of years ago, my parents traveled to Saudi Arabia so Dad could lecture. All the details were handled by a contact there. My mother was worried going over because they didn't have all the visa paperwork. They were met at the airport by an official who expedited taking them through customs. There a nice man stamped all of Dad's paper work, then turned to the man behind my mother and asked for his paperwork. Mom says "What about me?"
The customs man said "Whether or not your husband wants you to travel with him is of no concern to His Majesty's government." In essence, she was baggage.
I don't believe anything has changed.

I haven't been in a kingdom hall since 1988. I doubt I'd notice if they DF'd me. Even less likely that I'd care.

Prevailing winds and the jet stream flow west to east. Fallout from nuclear weapons will used in Korea will drift across Japan and eventually reach the US (although widely dispersed by that time).
I don't think the North Koreans need nukes. They can flatten Seoul in an afternoon with conventional weapons. What happens after they do that is anybody's guess. The Chinese, Japanese and Russians will all have reason to take action.

I wonder if people will stop wondering if Trump and Putin are buddy buddy now lol
That will go down the memory hole and it will be "Trump is a war monger."
This war is principally about Assad doing what tinpot dictators do, keeping himself in power. I don't believe there is any oil in Syria, somebody may want to run a pipeline across it, but as long as this fighting is going on that will be almost impossible to maintain.
I don't know what we expect to do, as near as I can tell, there are no good guys in Syria.

Ranting
by FedUpJW inplease excuse me for long-winded ranting.
i know, as do most of us here that "love" is not something that the jdub's are known for except in their deluded, feeble minds.. i can handle their hypocrisy when it is directed at me, but when it is aimed at family who for decades have genuinely been the type of jw that the watchtower presents to the public, and when it is motivated by pure hate, then i get pissed!.
my mother was dunked in the 1940's and my father in the 1950's.

Check with your lawyer. If your Dad is of sound mind, and you don't exert any undo pressure he should be able to give everything to you, unless you have siblings. A new will would render any previous will moot. I hate the idea that the Witnesses can treat somebody like garbage and then expect to collect their estate.
What state are you in. My family's estate planner may know somebody that could help. He knows people all over the place. PM me if you want help.

A sad story. After my Dad died Mom slipped into dementia (neither were every JW's).
It is really hard to watch smart loving people slip away like that. I am very fortunate that I was able to be there for both of them.
Words fail me when it comes to the attitude of witnesses toward things like this. The lack of compassion speaks volumes about what their religion does to people.
Any chance you can talk him into giving the 30% to a real charity and not the WTBS?

by nowwhat? injust wonderin'.

I was an accountant in investment real estate, including development for many years. I would estimate $300-500 million. Personally, I doubt they saved all that much on labor. Using volunteers for stuff like this is notoriously inefficient. If you take the total cost of running a building (repairs, remodels, utilities etc) for the life of the building, construction costs are a small fraction of the total. Having to go back and do slip shod work over again is going to cost them in the future.
