last night they announced that this summers district convention will be held at an assembly hall.. this is the first time i've seen this happen.
there are a couple of congregations in the same hall here and they aren't going to the same ones.
they are having multiple dates.. the hall they are going to use can only hold 1500 people max.. just wondering if maybe they just couldnt get anything bigger this year or if the falling numbers are playing a part in this decision.

When I became a JW in the seventies, the big conventions were held in the Kingdome (which doesn't exist anymore). Typically about 50,000 people attended. Then they went to the Tacoma dome, with about 10,000 attending each of two or three conventions. So going to the assembly hall is just another data point in the downward slide.

I think Pelosi is dragging her feet on impeachment because she knows that all the bad stuff that went on under Obama will be dragged out into the light at the hearings. I assume that she's working on the assumption that a Democrat next year. That may be a big assumption, its what everybody said about Hilary.
Simon: Impeaching Obama is a waste of time, he's already not President, which is the only possible punishment for impeachment. He can still be criminally charged if a crime becomes known (see above).
it has been well documented that jehovah`s witnesses have long claimed that christendom has hidden the name of god for centuries.. and that they alone have restored that name in the last century,.
making it known in all of the earth for a witness.. nothing could be further from the truth .. 1.justus martinus a 13th century spanish monk took the four hebrew letters of the tetragrammaton for gods name and added vowels to those consonants and came up with hebrew letters to english jhvh and the vowels he added e o a. which amounted to jehovah ,remember this was in the thirteenth century by a spanish catholic monk.. 2.this name persisted throughout the centuries to this day ,in many so of christendoms writings etc,etc.. 3.churches of christendoms religions throughout the world have the name jehovah in stone on them engraved since that 13th century .
4.in the 1970`s if i remember correctly their was an international convention held around the world in which the jw`s released a publication of the conventions and the churches of christendom to the delegates showing these churches many of which had the name jehovah engraved in stone on them.......centuries old churches.
A can't reconcile the Watchtower's claim that we can trust the Bible becauce God saw to that it was translated and preserved for us with complete accuracy; with the Watchtower's claim that some how Satan scrubbed God's own name out of the text with impunity.
It can be one or the other, not both.

Do angels have mass? If not, then they can travel at infinite speeds. Since the WTBS says they don't have physical bodies, I would take that to mean they have no mass and get from one place to another instantly.
i admit to not being very well informed about the watchtower's view on blood transfusions.
i have a couple of questions that i hope someone here is able to answer.. i understand that the watchtower now considers it to be okay to receive blood fractions.. my first question is: are all fractions considered to be permissible?
and if not, specifically which fractions are not permissible?.
The Watchtower's position on blood is also unscientific. Medicine does not recognize "major" vs "minor" components of blood. Transfusions of whole blood are relatively rare these days. Current practice is to give you the component you need.

"We're not gonna take it" from the Rock Opera Tommy, if I had to pick one. With out that restriction I'd say the whole album. It came out before I was assimilated (I was about to graduate High School), and I always like the music. Since I left the WTBS I've thought the salvation via pinball meme was a good allegory for trying to sell enough Watchtowers.
