I probably did this more than once:
I'd go to the library in the back of the hall and lock the door and take a nap.
The meetings are boring enough to put anyone to sleep.

this one time, the night they disfellowshipped my sorry ass from the christian congregation smerk smerk,i came strolling back from a beer bar and had to pee in a major way so i stumbled my way next to the entry door of the hall and let loose with at lest a picture of rolling rock beer after it was filtered through me kidneys, it still makes me proud..

very interesting thread atjeff started about whether to fade or not.
(to fade or not to fade...an opinion) thought i would start a new thread with my thoughts, but not hijack his.. here are my thoughts on my own situation which may or may not reflect anyone else's situation.
sunday is our family day.
Hey Snakes,
You have to do what works for you.
I would have liked to write a DA letter but just never got around to it.
I was one of those faders.
You never know, maybe someone who reads your letter will get the right idea and start searching for the real truth.

"inciting hatred on the basis of race, religion, gender, nationality or sexuality or other personal characteristic.".
is this seriously one of the forum's rules to follow?
how can that be so when this whole forum is based on inciting hatred towards one religion.....jehovah's witnesses.......wow this is funny!
BTS,
I didn't think there was a way to compare ip addresses anymore.
the organization teaches you to rely on jehovah god.
don't worry about the anxieties of this system, just modestly care for the necessities in life.
don't plan for retirement.
Excellent question! I have a number of theories:
1.) If you have no material possessions, your supposed "spiritual bros and sis" will BE your whole life. Members who may want to leave would be less likely to do so if by so doing, they would lose everything they have left.
2.) One poor but devoted pioneer (TM) can bring into the cult perhaps 3 or more "worldly converts" who will have enough money to donate to make up for the other RF who donate only their time, effort, and perhaps even their entire youth.
3.) The actual cost of maintaing their buildings is done entirely by volunteers. The savings in labor costs to build or repair Kingdumb halls, etc is like money in the bank.
4.) If there is a national disaster, the volunteers who do the hard work for the Regional Build Committee have to get owner of the home to sign an agreement. That agreement states that any insurance payment check will be signed over to “Worldwide Work.” >>> Ca$hinggg<<< free labor=money for the wts

it's been raining in north texas on and off for the last 12 hours.. the thunder and lightning woke me up and i looked outside: it was so dark out my window.. it's cloudy outside and it's thundering still.. usually at 7:00 am i see the bright sunny skies and birds chirping but not today.
it looks like it will be this way all day: gloomy and dark.
how do you deal with the constant rain day after day?.
WOW, 24 days of rain in a month, that's a lot.
The one good thing is now I don't have to run my car by the car wash.

first i need to say that reading and being part of this online community is addicting... i keep telling myself to not read anything here because it just brings that bad taste back in my mouth... i tell myself that if i don't read the posts and occassionally post myself, that i will slowly start to forget everything i know or have learned about jws... but i can't seem to stay away long enough to have that happen... am i nuts, or what?.
anyway, one thing i have been thinking a lot about is something my study conductor used to say to me... that jws always, always put jehovah first, then they concentrate next on family, and, lastly, on the congregation... if all that is true, then why not just leave the rest of us alone... if your priorities are in this order, and the general population isn't even mentioned, then why chase us down, knocking on our doors trying to evangelize to us if you only care about the three things mentioned above... seems somewhat hypocritical to me.... you say you care about me but i am not one of the top three choices!
and then you talk about family being your second priority but in a second you are ready to cut ties and not speak to them if elders in the congregation determine that they are a "bad association.
<<<<<they obey a false jehovah in brooklyn
You have a point there. Just because the self appointed "governing body" says something there's blind obedience.
Also, regarding children, I remember seeing the little kids going reluctantly out in all kinds of weather on a Saturday morning and I used to think: Those children should be at home watching cartoons.

Basically, to understand the Watchtower's twisted teachings, one needs to decipher precisely what their teachings REALLY mean:
Jehovah first = Watchtower Bible and Crap Society first
Family second = Only IF they obey the Watchtower Bible and Crap Society
Others third = IF they take the literature, study or believe the society's short-circuited-ever-blinking "spiritual light."
So...
if the Jdubs would just ponder for a moment: Christ is supposed to be the Exemplar and
When exactly did Jesus ever refuse to talk to or associate with anybody??
He even spoke to Mary Magdalene, tax collectors and the devil.

i just did and it lowered my bill from $116 to $79 per month for a year... and i got more channels.
over the year i'll save $444.
not bad for a quick phone call!
Thanks for the tip!
I've heard that http://www.billshrink.com let's people compare their current cell phone
plan to see if it's the best fit for their current use.
I haven't tried it, but it's always good to shop around.

My divorce was uncontested and I was fortunate enough to get out of from Watchtower control with my children.
My parents were never involved with the religion,
so they were more than happy to have me back in the real world.
What about you? What has helped you gain a sense of belonging after leaving the JW religion?
Do you feel that you can reach out to others here on this forum when you are in need of someone to talk to?
How do you replace a family? What fills the void?
