I can't be proud of my kids!

today i went to my daughter's school and they sang "america the beautiful" and i videoed her.

i do have a question though!!

how do most people explain to their children about why grandma and grandpa never come to their birthday party or any holiday function?

Don't sugarcoat or hide the truth from them. They will understand far more than you think.

So true. The fact that their grandparents belong to a cult can be explained in a simple way. Just try to use words appropriate for their age. Children as young as 8 can grasp the truth about Santa and the tooth fairy. They are better off knowing the facts. They are intelligent enough at around this age to differentiate the fact from the fiction. This is best done sooner rather than later. Postponing telling something they will find out anyway just prolongs the time frame during which they will feel deceived.

here in the dfw area we've had no rain and 100+ f temps for several weeks.

Seriously, how do you keep cool?

I imagine that if I ever get to live in Texas I'd absolutely get a house with a pool. That way, after a long day at work I just jump in and cool off before retiring for the day.

sometimes we all find ourselves in periods of time where we are constantly hit by stress... right now is one of those times for me.

If you're not getting the results you need from the expensive doctors you've been seeing, then maybe it's time to move on. You can simply call his/ her office and cancel your upcoming appointments by stating that you are going to pursue a second medical opinion. You have the right to change primary care providers if they aren't being helpful either: I'd check your isurance for in-plan specialists in this field:

Otolaryngologists can prescribe medication and perform surgery for sinus problems, sleep apnea, or to remove tonsils or cancerous growths, for example. Some otolaryngologists also do certain cosmetic procedures to improve appearance.

Otolaryngologists can be board-certified through the Board of Otolaryngology, which is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Good Luck. Hopefully you'll find a doctor who will care for your condition so you can sleep better.

i have tried to look back and find a post....but can't!

it was a very good letter written by someone...a woman...and one thing i remember in it was the comparrison of the wts to the hallways of 9/11...like if someone kept leading you out the wrong way....i hope someone remembers...i thought i bookmarked it, but i guess i didn't.

At a crossroads, need advice

over the last few years i have been trying unsucessfully to get my wife out of the org.

we've had a lot of ups & downs, arguments, and miserable times.

well, my wife has finally told me that she will respect my decision to no longer be a jw, and i can also do what i feel is best for our children in this respect.

If your spouse has agreed to disagree with you on the religious aspect of your married lives, then you are one step away from teaching your kids to be free of the Watchtower control.
Immediately begin to explain to your children that the Watchtower condemns things not forbidden in the Bible: Higher education, etc. Tell them you will love them unconditionally no matter what they decide to do. Let them know there are choices in activities on meeting nights. (music lessons, sports practice etc.) They can choose to go the KH or not, but you would rather them not go because they will not gain acceptance, or freedom of thought at the KH. Make it clear to your spouse that she is not to use punishments or threats of the big "A" to make the children feel guilty about not attending the meetings.

As far as making friends and meeting people--volunteer at their school. Get to know the other parents and their classmates. That's a start.

it is in my nature to expect everyone to act in the best interests of everyone else.

i never expect that others will intentionally cause harm to another in a willfull and malisious act.

I had a job right after high school where at the ripe old age of 19, I learned all about office politics by observation.

There is gossip galore there just as in the KH. People will talk about you and anything you say can and will often be used against you.

It's better not to divulge anything you don't want posted on a bulletin board for all to see. This is especially true in the workplace.

As far a trusting others outside of the workplace, I will usually trust until that trust is betrayed. Once that happens, it is just like trying to put broken pieces back to make a crystal vase: It's not the same anymore.

Believe me that I understand your point. However, the same thing could be said of a gambler or someone else with an ingrained habit I don't consider healthy. If they are going to change their ways that's fine. This change really needs to happen way before I come into the picture. They should change for themselves--not for me.

Would a guy be able to be in a committed relationship with me if he has a history of having numerous sex partners? I'd be doubtful. Simply put, if he's had sex with people he barely knows without taking the time to establish a relationship over the course of several months at least, then he actually is just after sex. If someone spends time engaging in risky behavior with the possibility for unwanted pregnancies and STD’s just for fun, well that’s just plain stupid IMHO.

I wouldn’t want to waste my time with a guy who hops from one meaningless fling after another. They aren’t people I’d have anything in common with if I wanted a meaningful long-term relationship.
