How does GOVERNING BODY receive "NEW LIGHT"?

just how does the governing body of jehovah's witnesses receive their "insight" or "understanding" of the bible, in order to publish this "spiritual food at the proper time" in their watchtower and awake magazines and all their books?.

"yahweh is a monster and the bible is full of contradictions!".

this is for all atheists, skeptics, believers, anyone to post the biggest contradictions that you believe are found in the bible, and also to tell about why you believe the god of the old testament (yahweh/jehovah) is a "monster" (as so many have said on this website in the past).. so this is a double-themed-thread!.

i want to see if i can provide good answers/solutions using logic and reasoning..

This is for all Atheists, Skeptics, Believers, ANYONE to post the biggest CONTRADICTIONS that you believe are found in the Bible, and also to tell about why you believe the God of the Old Testament (Yahweh/Jehovah) is a "MONSTER" (as so many have said on this website in the past).

i am posting this thread because i think it greatly help myself (and other christian believers) to better understand your beliefs and your viewpoints, if you posted a short (or long) summary of what the reasons and basis are for your not believing that there is a god, or for believing that we cannot know god if he exists.. you can include arguments against god, against the bible, against the christian interpretations of the bible, etc.. you can include scientific evidence that you believe contradicts the bible, or contradicts the existence of a god/creator/designer.. christians believers: you are welcome to post counter-arguments, or summaries for why you believe in god/creator/designer or why you believe in the bible or the christian interpretations of the bible.. i also thought it might be good to link to another lively thread we had on this website a while back: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/175688/1/god-morals-and-atheists.

when you include your reasons for why you don't believe in god or the bible, or why you do believe in god or the bible, please include at least a little bit of the evidence (or link to the evidence) that backs up your statement.. for example, it doesn't do much good to claim "evolution is false" and just leave it at that, or on the other hand, to say "the bible is full of scientific errors" and just leave it at that.. here are two threads i posted where i explained the reasons why i personally believe in god and the bible:.

I would agree that the onus is on the believer to present the evidence for the existence of God. The purpose of this thread is just to hopefully facilitate better understanding of different people's beliefs and viewpoints. I appreciate you posting yours here.

Also, I guess you could look at it this way:

Imagine you are living in a far away land (a third-world country) where 90% of the population believe in ghosts and spirits, and you are trying to explain to them why you do not believe in ghosts and spirits.

You could view living in the United States in a similar way (since somewhere around 90% of US citizens believe in a God or Creator/Designer).

"The Problem of EVIL & SUFFERING" Thread!

for all individuals who are atheists, agnostics, christians, jews, muslims, jehovah's witnesses, or anyone else: this is the thread to post the very best argument against god or defense/case for god based on the problem of evil/suffering.. if there is an all-good, all-powerful, all-knowing god, why does he allow all of the suffering and evil we have today (and down through the millenniums)?.

also, for those who believe in god (like myself), how do you harmonize/reconcile your belief in god with the fact of all of the evil and suffering in the world?.

i will post my beliefs on this shortly..

Quite often, I have observed individuals who are atheists that will attempt to use the "Argument From Evil/Suffering" to prove that an all-good, all-powerful God cannot exist. Otherwise, if an all-good, all-powerful God did exist, He would put a stop to (or would never have allowed) all the suffering and evil in the world.

One question I have for those who do believe in God is, what definition are you using for "evil"? And what definition are you using for "good"?

The main purpose of this thread is to widen myself and others intellectually. To get out of our "comfort zones". To think deeply about God and why there is suffering or evil.

I don't plan on making any "excuses" for God.
