Should I move officially to this new cong?

so i got in college recently (petroleum engineering), which is 150+ miles away from my home town.

i started to go to the meetings once in a while to please my parents because i hate lieing to them, although i did several times regarding meetings.. last time an elder - special pioneer - came to me at the hall and asked me if i had already thought about transfering my 'files' aka.

publisher card to that congregation.

Go to a hall you have no been to, that is atleast not the very closest one, get the records transferred, then don't show up anymore. :)

The society lies and has it's members lie. For example on JW.org under FAQ, you'll see the question on "Do you shun former members of your religion". They give the impression those who leave won't be shunned, and even if somebody sinned, that families are family no matter what.

So with all of that and the society labeling lying, "theocratic warfare", and how lying to those they deem it's none of their business is not a lie, then lieing about meetings because otherwise they may shun, etc, is also theocratic warfare and none of their business. It's your private life.

at the congregation bible study this week, we as jehovahs witnesses studied a brochure on how we study the bible at the congregation bible study.

no wonder half of us are screwed up..

It's interesting how true that is and how the society has never quoting this scripture..... Amos 5:18 "Woe to those who are craving the day of Jehovah! What, then, will the day of Jehovah mean to you people? It will be darkness, and no light......................I have HATED, I have rejected your festivals, and I shall not enjoy the smell of your solemn ASSEMBLIES. But if you people offer up to me whole burnt offerings, even in your gift offerings (meetings, service, etc), I shall find no pleasure. How to accept the actions of the Old Testament God

how are we able to do this.. this is not an attempt to stir the pot or cause confusion but i was sitting here thinking of all the really horrid things that the old testament god did to people.

when i was a jw i just purposely put it to the back of my mind always trying to make an excuse.

when i was in field service and someone would ask me about it i would just change the subject.. however i have been reading alot of info lately here about how wonderful jesus is and how he is a direct representation of what god the father would be.

As you can see above, and there are tons of other scriptures, it wasn't God himself always leading the Israelites. You see their they were warned that he was sending a bad @$$ angel who wasn't going to mess around.

For all believers: I have a serious question

god ordered the killing of men women and children and animals and pillaging of various nations around them.

in some instances god apparently led the way with his might arm.. this is not a question of wether it is right or wrong, but moreso a question(s) of:.

1. if you were there would you have personally participated in those killings or would you ignore the commands?.

To your questions,

First off, tons of scriptures imply that things which God supposedly commanded were not from him, but of another entity or humans. One example all will have heard was Stephen right before he was martyred quoting I think Isaiah, that while in the wildnerness they were not following God but Moloch instead.

Another point.....if you recall I think it was Saul who spared some. He did not get in trouble because he spared some, but because he only spared the prized ones or the best.

Another point.....When God was getting the Israelites out of Egypt, did he have them kill the Egyptians? When they were pursuing them did he have them defend themselves? Once they made the golden calf, things changed. Then they insisted on a human king down the road. Everytime they went againt or insisted having things done their way or like the nations are done, it resulted in things getting worse, allowed for corruption, etc.

It's almost like that today w/ the GB, the JW's who are actually in because they don't want to take responsibility themselves or try to seek out God, but have another human tell them everything, to follow, etc, results are similar.

Why has nobody started a petition or writing letters to congress, etc?

i can't be in the spotlight as starting this because of a family member.

but i wonder why there is no big change.org type petition going on with hundreds of thousands of signatures, etc.

or putting together a nice letter about how jw's religion breaks up families, claims to want religious freedom but those of us born in, or just in, are forced to accept their lies and anything they say or get shunned, and the devastating emotional, etc, effects on people.

Anony Mous - What about the kids and born ins? The emotional and mental damage they face and they are not free at all to do it. What about the members that are BRAINWASHED. They are not FREE to make their own choices. There is research on brainwashing, the government knows about brainwashing. So brainwashing ones relatives to shun. There are so many angles to attack this on.

How about showing how on public, like jw.org, they make it appear people can leave and not get shunned, but then showing the STUDY articles how those who leave or doubt the religion are 'mentally diseased' etc.

I think if ALL ex jw's, the hundreds of thousands were to email bomb congress members in every state over the coarse of a month on this, they may do some real investigation into the practice.

It's not merely a religion where one joins on their own free will and everybody knows upfront what is required and not. They change the rules anytime they want, and if you don't believe in it, you are mentally diseased and your family/associates/life friends are to shun you. If you are born in, you are screwed.

Family worship Ideas

ok guys im getting sick of sitting around.. i read an article submitted on freeminds called .

ok so in light of this i need some advice.

Read the bible in context and the books just like a book.

Who reads a book by randomly reading sentences from paragraphs and jumping all over to different pages?

Start with the new testament since that's how things are to be done today.

Read a chapter, then discuss what the scriptures were saying. Then another, and so on.

In the NT you'll come upon parts about not judging, or in Romans and Col about not judging those who observe days and festivals, about helping poor and such, etc.

Depending on the speed of it will determine how quickly she may see all is not in harmony with the scriptures.

You might want to do a study w/ her alone and one w/ the kids. I have no advice for what to do w/ the kids though.
